As very small squeak says, it is very cool :)

miffybun73 · 29/04/2013 20:04

I absolutely love it, but then again wouldn't use it myself as I'm not brave enough.

My children both have very traditional, some might say, "boring" names, Daniel and Emily :)

VerySmallSqueak · 29/04/2013 20:02

It is a very cool name.

It was a serious contender had I had a boy.

MERLYPUSS · 29/04/2013 19:59

fab

I work with a Spike - he's a very respectable senior scientist in his (?)late 40s. As far as I know, it's his real name and nobody has ever batted an eyelid at it Smile. (Academia may not be representative of workplaces in general, though...)

Rhubarbgarden · 28/04/2013 21:12

I used to work for a Spike. Not a nickname, perfectly acceptable bona fide name. He was (is!) a quiet, gentle man and yet it didn't seem at all incongruous.

I think it's a fabulous name.

melodyme · 28/04/2013 19:45

Oh. Please, no. Lol

lisaro · 23/04/2013 19:06

It's great - for a bulldog.

Yy Buffy. You'll need to buy your Spike a long leather coat Grin

Seriously, I know a cute little 2-year-old Spike and while there were eyebrows raised at the time, by now it's just his name.

ShadowStorm · 23/04/2013 18:16

Sounds very much more like a nickname than a proper name.

YouDontWinFriendsWithSalad · 23/04/2013 16:14

I love it. I know a grown up Spike, it's not his nickname.

Wallison · 23/04/2013 13:42

Makes me think of Elvis Costello.

That's a good think, btw.

I know a Spike in RL, its just normal now, he's just Spike Smile

thermalsinapril · 23/04/2013 10:53

I don't like it. It's, er, too spiky.

OneFingerSjupesUpTheYoni · 23/04/2013 10:00

Rugrats dog!

sparkle12mar08 · 23/04/2013 09:44

But it's not a name, it's a nick name, and a non-specific one at that. You could call him Spike on a day to day basis and give him a any proper name you like on the birth certificate.

Theironfistofarkus · 23/04/2013 07:42

Sounds a bit, well, spikey. I wouldn't do it and I love unusual names. If the baby came out with piercings and a purple Mohican, however, I might be forced to reconsider.

gottogetup · 23/04/2013 07:36

LOVE. One of my best friends is called Spike...it's an awesome name and just accentuates how awesome he is. no one has ever batted an eyelid at his name, its just cool.

thistlelicker · 22/04/2013 18:35

Really????? Ok

Meringue33 · 22/04/2013 18:33

There's a little one at a toddler group that we go to called Spike.

There is something deeply incongruous about a legging'd-up, nappy wearing Spike, weaving his way through a sandpit. Grin He will probs grow into the name.

cupcake78 · 22/04/2013 08:05

Love it
