I think Clover is delightful.

What Katy Did pops straight into my mind.

Clover is nicer than Daisy (bit too cutesy) and Flora (bit too maiden aunt).

I love love love Clover! It was always on my girls list, but alas I only had boys.

I loved the What Katy Did books so always associate the name with those rather than cows etc.

Love it! It's definitely a Marmite name. I think of 'What Katy Did' and an outdoorsy, faintly tomboyish kind of girl. Don't get the whole 'cow's name' thing, but then again I also love Tabitha (which everyone says is a cat's name) and Rufus (which everyone says is a dog's name)!

I agree with BresticlesNTesticles (now that is quite a coll name Grin). I don't see Clover as a person name at all.

It's my dog's name so I cant imagine it for a child personally, it ends up getting shortened to 'Clo' as well which I'm not keen on, it's a bit harsh sounding.

It's What Katy Did books for me - my all time favourite reads as a child and I think it's a lovely name which obviously has been rather spoilt by the spread reference.

I like it a lot. Soft and gentle without being too cutesy. I wouldn't be too worried about the brand association either.

It will always be What Katy Did for me, but I do understand the cow reference. Doesn't seem to affect the popularity of similar names though.

I'm unaware of the "butter" reference, as I never buy those artificial spreads, only real butter so I don't look at the rest of it.
