I think Clover is delightful.

What Katy Did pops straight into my mind.

Clover is nicer than Daisy (bit too cutesy) and Flora (bit too maiden aunt).

Pixieonthemoor · 28/04/2013 15:38

Adorable.

JojoMags · 27/04/2013 20:56

Ignore the dairy related comments. Is lovely. Or Flora?

MrsBazinga · 27/04/2013 19:16

Clover is also on of the rabbits in Watership Down.

I know a baby Clover, and I really like the name.

Still18atheart · 27/04/2013 18:56

No

Butter connotations and cows spring to mind

In Animal Farm wasn't it the sheep who was called Clover

FatherSpodoKomodo · 27/04/2013 18:26

I love love love Clover! It was always on my girls list, but alas I only had boys.

I loved the What Katy Did books so always associate the name with those rather than cows etc.

Rhubarbgarden · 27/04/2013 08:38

I absolutely love Clover. It didn't work with our surname . Please use it.

Umlauf · 25/04/2013 09:51

I have, "over and over, crimson and clover"

Anyone else?

I quite like it as a name though. Flora is marg too and still a name.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 25/04/2013 09:48

Oh we all love clover all over the land oh we all love clover it's the way that its churned.

TenthMuse · 22/04/2013 13:18

Love it! It's definitely a Marmite name. I think of 'What Katy Did' and an outdoorsy, faintly tomboyish kind of girl. Don't get the whole 'cow's name' thing, but then again I also love Tabitha (which everyone says is a cat's name) and Rufus (which everyone says is a dog's name)!

Sarah0378 · 22/04/2013 12:47

Clover and Flora are margarine, lifetime of 'spreads easily' jokes at school. No.

Daisy is a nice name.

HagsFlungOut · 22/04/2013 11:19

Do the people who dislike the name Clover also dislike Daisy?

ripsishere · 22/04/2013 04:54

dreadful.

I agree with BresticlesNTesticles (now that is quite a coll name Grin). I don't see Clover as a person name at all.

Purplemonster · 22/04/2013 00:43

It's my dog's name so I cant imagine it for a child personally, it ends up getting shortened to 'Clo' as well which I'm not keen on, it's a bit harsh sounding.

K8Middleton · 22/04/2013 00:32

Have you considered Clodagh? Sounds very similar but is a nice Irish name.

VisualiseAHorse · 22/04/2013 00:31

Love it! Reminds me of 'What Katy Did'

GW297 · 22/04/2013 00:25

I like it too!

mewkins · 21/04/2013 23:16

Clover and Buttercup are cows' names.

thermalsinapril · 21/04/2013 17:25

I like it!

Ruprekt · 21/04/2013 16:53

At no point in my life (am now 42) would I have wanted to be called Clover.

Just No.

Nice for a cow or a cat. SmileSmileSmileSmile

fussychica · 21/04/2013 16:52

It's What Katy Did books for me - my all time favourite reads as a child and I think it's a lovely name which obviously has been rather spoilt by the spread reference.

TwllBach · 21/04/2013 15:47

I like it a lot. Soft and gentle without being too cutesy. I wouldn't be too worried about the brand association either.

mummanj · 21/04/2013 15:45

I like it. Clo for a nn is lovely too.

HagsFlungOut · 21/04/2013 15:20

It will always be What Katy Did for me, but I do understand the cow reference. Doesn't seem to affect the popularity of similar names though.

I'm unaware of the "butter" reference, as I never buy those artificial spreads, only real butter so I don't look at the rest of it.
