Linnea or Flora

Any thoughts on these two names?

Flora - Down side, the margarine connection.

Linnea - Is it too hard to pronounce?

Flora, apart from the ignominy of having your name on margarine, is frumpy

Linnea, might be good if you were Swedish ( if it's recognised as a real name there). Otherwise its a bit 'made up' sounding. It doesn't help that I shop in house of Fraser so it just makes me think of homewares & clothes etc

I don't like either. Flora always sounds frumpy to me, an Linnea doesn't even sound like a proper name.

Flora sounds a little bit bit dull to me, and has no obvious nicknames (I like names that offer possibilities). Linnea is nicer sounding I think, and does look like a pretty flower. I like Linnet too.

Linnea is also the namr of house of frasers own brand clothing.

If you want the floral theme without the margarine association, how about Zinnia? It is less popular than Flora so wil szand out more.

As a biologist I think Linnea is fab, and would have liked it myself but dp vetoed it. I prefer it to Flora.

Linea is a brand of margarine in Spain! I think Flora is a lovely name - makes me think of La Traviata if that helps!

My daughter is called Flora and people always say what a lovely name it is!

Could some one link to these sanitary towels!

I've tried to find them on google but can't. Do they still exist or is it an old brand people are remembering?

Yes, you are pronouncing it correctly. There are some very pretty books by Cristina Bjorkman about a little girl named Linnea. They are very popular in Sweden. Sorry I can't link.

I am a Swede and love the name Linnea. Flora is pretty but brings to mind margarine and Fluoride.

Prefer Flora, most people will see past the margarine thing.

I think you'll get Linn-ee-a as the pn for Linnea and it sounds too much like the word linear, i.e. relating to lines, which would seem odd. It's also a type of equation.

It's a Swedish name in honour of Carl Linnaeus or the pink and white flower Linnaea borealis (also named in his honour).

It's currently a popular name in Norway and Sweden (top ten or near enough).

I have no Scandinavian connection, though I hope that does not matter.

Hmm well sanitary towels not good....

It's prounounced Linn-ay-er, I will probably go for Flora as it's more classic and i'm a bit of a nervous ninny about names. But I do think Linnea is lovely.
