I love the name Karen with middle name Claire.

Should I just time travel back 40 years or am I safe to name GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
x2boys · 13/04/2013 10:06

I like classic names but names such as darren ,karen you kind of know they are going to be late 30,to late 40,s and kylies and scotts will have been born around late 80,s early 90,s i know i,m a name snob!

Pascha · 13/04/2013 10:05

One of my nephews is Stuart. The only one of his age we know. His older brother mentioned it and his mum and dad really couldn't find a reason not to have it.

I like Karen but I can't say Claire is as nice.

DeskPlanner · 13/04/2013 10:03

Has your eldests name appeared yet, usual ?

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 13/04/2013 10:01

I like Jeannie

mrsjay · 13/04/2013 10:00

I know a 19/20 yr old Colin

YoniBottsBumgina · 13/04/2013 09:58

I bet Karen will be more popular though because of Outnumbered.

What about Colin Grin

usualsuspect · 13/04/2013 09:58

My Eldest DDs name always appears on these lists.

mrsjay · 13/04/2013 09:58

congrats on your new baby enorma Smile

mrsjay · 13/04/2013 09:57

some of the old names were quite popular when i had the DDs makes me feel ancient, Fionas claires sarah was normal names when dd1 was born she isn't 1 of them but her name is here too, funny how names come and go

IfUSeekAmy · 13/04/2013 09:53

Congratulations Snob. Someone asked me what dd3 name was once and then said 'what on earth did you call her that for?!'
I just said, 'Um, well we both liked it!' Couldn't really think of another answer!!

ENormaSnob · 13/04/2013 09:44

Whatever you choose someone somewhere will hate it, someone else will love it.

We had dc4 on Tuesday and am Shock at how fucking rude some people can be re names.

I have chosen a name I love so fuck everyone else.

gabsid · 13/04/2013 09:23

Names go in and out of fashion. I called DD Anna (a name I always liked) a couple of years ago and didn't think that it was in fashion, only to discover that there are 3 others with that name in her pre-school!

Before DD was born, we stayed in an old castle hotel in Bavaria with 19th century photos of big, stern looking of the previous owners/families on the wall. Half of them were called Anna!

I suggest you just go with what you like.

tethersend · 13/04/2013 09:20

I have an Angie and a Shirley.

peggyblackett · 13/04/2013 09:20

I love Gavin.

MsNobodyAgain · 13/04/2013 09:19

I have a dated name then Grin

I have a son called Frank. That's a PROPER name, that is!

Solaia · 13/04/2013 09:15

I know babies born last year called Anna, Kirsten and Fiona, and one the year before called Kirsty, so I do think they are occasionally still used. I know a baby Stuart which I suppose is a boy equivalent.

I'm always amazed that people see Sarah as dated. I know it was quite popular in the 1970's and 80's but to me it is just absolutely classic, Biblical and beautiful. Same with Rebecca. Sharon and Tracey on the other hand are quite 'of their time' Smile

InkleWinkle · 13/04/2013 09:06

My 8 yr old has friends called Sarah, Anna, Jenny & Rebecca.
I don't think these ever date.

Lovelygoldboots · 13/04/2013 09:02

Doris is surely due for a revival. I wanted Eric for my DS and was not allowed.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 13/04/2013 08:46

dd has a Terry in her class, also a few Stewarts and Rebeccas.

Confuseddd · 13/04/2013 08:45

Bruthas, I wanted to name ds2 Roy. Vetoed as well unfortunately!

HeyYoniYoni · 13/04/2013 08:44

Gary

BruthasTortoise · 13/04/2013 08:41

I always wanted a baby Trevor, DH was having none of it Smile

Couldonlyhappentome · 13/04/2013 08:36

I like names like Josephine and Francesca and dislike names like Karen, Claire, Sarah, Louise etc again possibly because they were popular in my youth!

Branleuse · 13/04/2013 08:36
