Leslie/Lesley is one of those names that moved from male to female like Evelyn, Hillary, Lindsay and more recently, Courtney and Kerry/Ceri

mrsjay · 13/04/2013 10:59

my name is the kylie of th e 60s/70s

DeskPlanner · 13/04/2013 10:58

Usual Grin

CwtchesAndCuddles · 13/04/2013 10:57

Mark is still a popular name in my area - I know quite a few of all ages. I always though it was one of the more common biblical names.

In my school class in the 70s there were 5 Pauls and 5 Clairs!

DeskPlanner · 13/04/2013 10:57

Oh yes Holly your right. Should have noticed the spelling.

DeskPlanner · 13/04/2013 10:55

Ah, my middle name has been mentioned once. It's a dated name, but not a nice one.

usualsuspect · 13/04/2013 10:55

S'ok Desk, you didn't offend me.

It's not Beverly Grin

gabsid · 13/04/2013 10:54

mrsjay - and I then taught all those Jasons and Kylies 10 years later in secondary school!

they were everywhere eh Smile they will be grown ups now probably with their own children

gabsid · 13/04/2013 10:53

8 years ago a friend called her DD Edith. I wasn't sure about the name then but now I like it. I think your own few and tastes change as well with your own experiences and the world around you.

AmberSocks · 13/04/2013 10:53

i dont like those kids of names,i thik they were left in the 70s and 80s for a reason.

HollyBerryBush · 13/04/2013 10:53

Late 40's - Caroline - every other girl was Caroline. 7 of them in my class, a Carolyn and 2 Karens. You can tell what the popular radio station of the time was!

Julie, lots of Julies; Susan, Deborah, Tracey and Sharon were also very popular.

Bloke my are always John, Dave, Paul, Steven (with the v not the ph), Gary and the odd Wayne thrown in.

DeskPlanner · 13/04/2013 10:52

Sorry Usual, I wasn't suggesting for a moment you didn't like your dds name. I like most of the girls names on here tbh, apart from Beverly very much now thinking Usuals dd is bound to be Beverly. I was just saying that I didn't like my middle name, that I don't even think is on here. Sorry if I offended. Thanks

Now off to check if my middle name is on here.

gabsid · 13/04/2013 10:51

nellyjelly · 13/04/2013 10:48

I had an aunt called Dolly!

Other names from the 60s and 70s are ; Anne, Christine, Alison, Carol, Jacqueline, Pamela, Louise, Maureen, Joanne, Michelle, Patricia, Julie, Anita, Kerry, Helen.

Philip, David, Colin, Martin, Gordon, Scott, Peter.

All due a revival surely!

x2boys · 13/04/2013 10:48

funny is nt it how some names never go out of fashion whilst others dissappear i went to school in the 80,s with a grace it was considered really old fashioned then but very popular now!

marriedinwhiteagain · 13/04/2013 10:47

Dated: Karen, Tracey, Debbie, Sharon, Kylie, Julie, Susan, Denise, Kim, Joyce, Tiffany, Roy, Warren, Darren, Nigel, Gary, Shane, Paul, Joshua, (and will be joined by Chelsea, Jaydon, Brittany, etc).

Classic: Deborah, Julia, Juliette, Susannah, Joy, Sarah, Rebecca, Alice, Louise, Arthur, Edward, Thomas, William, Michael, Mark, Jeremy, Julian, etc.

Some make come backs some do not. Some were just too much of their time.

HollyBerryBush · 13/04/2013 10:47

Leslie = boy
Lesley = girl

mrsjay · 13/04/2013 10:46

i love My dds names dd1 is on here I still like it as a name it doesn't seem dated to me but people don't like it nowadays

mrsjay · 13/04/2013 10:45

I know a little baby Mark but I think it is his dads name, boys seem to have more 'dated' names than girls a lot of boys are named after male family members

usualsuspect · 13/04/2013 10:44

I still love her name TBH.

DeskPlanner · 13/04/2013 10:43

Well usual, I'm sure its a lovely name. I'm the same age as your dd and have a middle name I hate. Totally dates the decade I was born.

I know a 6 year old called Kevin.
