Nola - not popularly used at all...sounds nice said out loud. What do you think!?

Matilda - OH really loves, but I don't like 'Tilly' or 'Matty' as nicknames.

Which would you go for? Due tomorrow!

Just seen this - congratulations, lovely!

dinnersinthedawg · 06/05/2013 20:43

Love Nina as mentioned above - pretty name and not too popular.

Out of your 2 though like Nola best (although prefer Nuala).

in the end we went for both. She is called Nola Matilda..........they don't go so well together but we wanted both!

Nola reminds me of Enola. Which would be fine apart from the Enola Gay association.

Nola is the nickname for New Orleans (New Orleans, LouisianA) and it is also a city in Italy.

What will Nola get shortened to? Noles? Nolly?

Matilda will always remind me of the Roald Dahl book, which would be a plus for me. On balance I'd go for that.

RedlipsAndSlippers · 11/04/2013 21:55

Love Matilda, always have. Nola's pretty too, and it's nice to have something unusual.

dollybirdy · 11/04/2013 21:52

Noa is pretty

DonDrapersAltrEgoBigglesDraper · 11/04/2013 20:58

Whereas, in Australia, Matilda would be ... waltzing ...?

shellyf · 11/04/2013 20:36

Matilda

AndWhenYouGetThere · 11/04/2013 17:57

I really like Tilda for Matilda, (and as a plus side a Tilda is the name of this symbol ~ )

JassyRadlett · 11/04/2013 17:56

In Australia, Nola would be friends with Edna and Doreen and having a fag break at the back of the milk bar.

jellybeans · 11/04/2013 17:53

Norah, Tabitha or Noelle also are nice.

jellybeans · 11/04/2013 17:53

Matilda

thermalsinapril · 11/04/2013 17:00

Not so keen on either personally. Like the suggestion of Nina though.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 11/04/2013 16:58

We had a girl do work experience with us a couple of years back called Nouvella.

KittenOfDoom · 11/04/2013 13:29

I don't really like any names beginning with N. Someone always has a cold, don't they? Dora is a safer choice than Nora, in that respect Grin

Gimmeechocolate · 11/04/2013 13:27

I like both but Matilda is very popular. You could use Dilly as a nn.

forevergreek · 11/04/2013 11:41

I like Nola best.
One of our favourite girls names has always been Nova

Offcolour · 11/04/2013 11:36

I like Nina a lot.

OrangeFootedScrubfowl · 11/04/2013 10:39

I like Noor and Una too Hedwig.

:)

smother · 11/04/2013 10:35

Tilda is a wonderful nn for Matilda..... much prefer to Tilly/Milly/Matty etc

Hedwig3 · 11/04/2013 10:12

I have always loved the name Nora/h but never used it because people all over the uk so often use it when swearing - bl*dy/f**ing Norah Sad

This is probably why I have turned to names like Nola, Nuala, Noor, Una

I like Willa too

gottogetup · 11/04/2013 09:23

I like Nina will see what OH thinks :) I think I prefer Nola though...I'm not sure why as it's not very popular with most people.

I always liked Lola but far too popular and so may names about with the two L's...Lily,Lola,Layla etc

Prefer Nola, purely for the freshness factor.

Nina is a gorgeous name.

OrangeFootedScrubfowl · 11/04/2013 09:20

How about Nina?

gottogetup · 11/04/2013 09:18

Nuala reminds me of the pet hoover on Teletubbies then: Noo Noo!

Definitely prefer Nola ;)

Matilda is getting quite popular, isn't it?

I like Norah but OH doesn't, says it reminds him of a little old lady!
