Polly or Mollie/Molly?

Sorry, me again! We have narrowed it down to these girls names but not decided upon which. Leaning more towards Mollie/Molly (which spelling?) but decided to canvas MN opinions.

Sister to Lilly, Jack and Alexandra. Not fussed about her having a high court judge name!

Polly.

I know a cool one and Molly is very popular.

'ie' at the end is name-fiddling to me. However you have already compromised Lily...

MummyBurrows · 15/04/2013 12:20

Molly. Polly just makes me think of Polly Pocket toys, parrots and that rhyme "polly put the kettle on"! Also, for some reason,I think of dogs when I see Mollie-probably coz it looks like collie-but with an M obvs...xx

Mary - as then you can call her Molly AND Polly, as both started life as nicknames for Mary.

Just an idea!

raisah · 15/04/2013 04:43

Molly

sarahandemily · 14/04/2013 19:50

Molly. Polly is a parrot

millymae · 14/04/2013 19:48

Another vote for Polly, so much nicer than Molly in my opinion.

Redheadgal · 14/04/2013 19:42

Molly reminds me of a dolly. Whereas Polly is just that little bit different. I can really see it working for a little girl, a feisty teen, professional woman etc.

nurseneedshelp · 14/04/2013 18:31

Oh and got a Holly here for the day too!

nurseneedshelp · 14/04/2013 18:30

I've got a molly and a parrot called polly!

barbben · 14/04/2013 18:27

love polly

SilveryMoon · 14/04/2013 18:04

I really like the name Molly. I would keep it like that though, Molly.

carovioletfizz · 14/04/2013 18:02

Polly! I have one. She is the only one we know....she suits her name very well.

elsabel · 14/04/2013 17:38

I love Molly/Mollie and considering using it myself, not sure on which spelling either though!

toffeelolly · 08/04/2013 01:33

Love pollyWink

I like both (and Holly) and knew a Lolly (but felt it was immensely silly for a grown woman to keep up that kind of name tbh).

Thewhingingdefective · 07/04/2013 22:49

Polly

olivertheoctopus · 07/04/2013 22:46

Polly.

Kyrptonite · 07/04/2013 21:57

I prefer it Mollie. Not sure why but I don't seem to like y endings in names.

Polly.

Molly's are two a penny and Mollie just looks wrong.

Hulababy · 07/04/2013 21:50

I have a Mollie.
The older people we knew of directly and indirectly generally had it spelled with an ie, rather than a y, and I personally prefer the way it looks.

DD is now 11y and DD has no friends with the same name, nor do any of our adult friends have children with the same name. It may be popular in some areas, but obviously not here.

Jezabelle · 07/04/2013 21:47

Mollie. Beautiful.

MacCrackles · 07/04/2013 17:31

I prefer Polly as it's more unusual.

Kyrptonite · 07/04/2013 17:10

Polly makes me think of miss polly had a dolly. I work in a nursery so I can't escape the bloody song!

I liked Hollie. DP doesn't. Which is odd as he likes all other 'olly' names!
