I like it but it will get pronouced wrongly.

Rafferty nn Rafe is similar.

DontSHOUTTTTTT · 09/04/2013 20:57

I don't like it as it sounds like a kiddy nickname for someone called Jacob

thegreylady · 09/04/2013 20:30

love the name Jacoby

MamaBlue4 · 09/04/2013 15:56

Jacoby is the name of one of my favourite band's lead singer. He's called Jacoby Shaddix and he it's pronounced Ja-co-bi :)

Awesome name.

mathanxiety · 09/04/2013 14:55

It's pronounced with the initial Ya (not J) sound in Russian though.

jkklpu · 08/04/2013 22:42

It means "allegedly" in Russian: I wouldn't.

EnglishBanana13200 · 08/04/2013 22:06

I love the name! but i don't know why i wouldn't name a child it.. I really dont have a clue Grin I think this is my future dog name for those resons! But go for itThanks

Frikadellen · 08/04/2013 17:06

not my choice but i dont hate it either

williaminajetfighter · 08/04/2013 16:59

oh kitten, you're right....

KittenOfDoom · 08/04/2013 12:13

No, her name is Jacoba. It's the Dutch equivalent of Jacqueline et al.

williaminajetfighter · 08/04/2013 08:49

It's the name of actress Coby Smulders. Obviously she shortens it. I understand its a girls name.

mathanxiety · 08/04/2013 02:46

I like it a lot. It's an older version of Jacob.

WildThong · 07/04/2013 21:47

Not for me. Bit pretentious, sorry. And the child will spend the rest of his life spelling it out and correcting people who assume it's Jacob.

Confuseddd · 07/04/2013 21:43

Why?

Ham69 · 07/04/2013 21:41

I've just been saying Isobel, Isabelle over and over agin to myself and I just can't hear the difference!
Not too keen on Jacoby though definitely heard worse.

Coffee1Sugar · 07/04/2013 20:27

Isobel, Isabel, Isabelle - all the same to me Hmm

sandberry · 07/04/2013 18:35

Proper old name, the original way James was rendered in the Bible but I think you will get a lot of mispronunciations

Rhubarbgarden · 07/04/2013 07:48

I've heard worse. But it wouldn't be my choice.

Whatalotofpiffle · 07/04/2013 07:32

I like it but be prepared for haters and mis pronouncers.

thermalsinapril · 06/04/2013 23:10

What Kitten said.

KittenOfDoom · 06/04/2013 23:08

I actually can't hear any difference between Isobel and Isabel. I have never heard anyone pronounce either version in any other way than Iz-uh-bel. (The middle bit being the sound usually represented by an upside-down e)

As for Jacoby, I would say it like the first three syllables of Jacobean. I do see it as a surname though.

olivertheoctopus · 06/04/2013 22:26

Not a fan. But then I don't like the name Jacob either.

cheekbyjowl · 06/04/2013 22:22

Go for it. I think it has a nice sound to it

CandlestickOlder · 06/04/2013 22:21

I really can't believe people would struggle to pronounce jacoby
