Any thoughts? I like Francesca and Josephine so thought Francine was a nice combination of the two. I like Camille & Camilla (but not sure i can get past the Parker Bowles connection). I also can't decide if I like Camelia? Thanks!

also thought of Daphne and Sylvie.

DessieLou · 01/04/2013 19:52

Hmm, a mixed bag. Giselle is nice but can't use.
zoezoolander I rather like Lucinda! May have to put that on the list! Smile

Fabienne is lovely!

ZoeZoolander · 01/04/2013 18:15

I love Camellia like the flower. Josephine is a disgusting old nuns name (Posy is nice though). Francine reminds me of that dancer that Ronan Keating had an affair with. Can't think of any others even though it's not that weird. Francine. Just has a frumpy vibe. Camille looks nice written down but pronounciation too problematic and it is just too like Camel. Camilla ok but again, it's a cliche posh name like Lucinda and Sebastian. Don't mind posh names though. Camelia / Camellia is the best name on your list.

ZolaBuddleia · 01/04/2013 16:13

Wonder the same about the start of Giselle... Grin

cuillereasoupe · 01/04/2013 14:56

I think a name that begins with the word Camel is asking for trouble really.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/04/2013 09:21

It's Cam-eel

baskingseals · 01/04/2013 09:05

what about Gisele?

i love this name. also Fabienne. i think Camille is pretty, but not sure how well it works in English.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 01/04/2013 07:56

Another thumbs up for Camille.

ZolaBuddleia · 01/04/2013 07:46

Josephine is lovely as well.

DessieLou · 01/04/2013 01:04

kendoddsdadsdog - so lovely to hear bow it's received in real life, thank you. How is your niece's name pronounced? Cam-eel or cam-me?

forgetmenots · 31/03/2013 23:16

Milla is also a lovely nn - like Camille best :)

KenDoddsDadsDog · 31/03/2013 23:10

My DNiece is Camille, always receives lots of compliments on her name.

DessieLou · 31/03/2013 22:28

I was thinking I'd pronounce it Cam-eel wit Cammy as a nn. I'm going off Francine, it was more of a passing thought really! Francesca & Josephine are still contenders though.
summerinsicilia I agree that camelia would be confused with Amelia so think that's a no no now.
Thanks so much for your thoughts and suggestions. Keep 'em coming! Smile

Had a lovely friend named Camille. Went by Cami and Milly.

ZolaBuddleia · 31/03/2013 19:35

Ooh, Celeste is beautiful.

lottiegarbanzo · 31/03/2013 19:31

I really like Camille, much better than Camilla.

Not keen on Francine, Frances or Francesca are much nicer. Josephine v nice too.

Is Celeste any good?

ZolaBuddleia · 31/03/2013 19:27

Would you pronounce it Ca-meel or Ca-mee?

Wishfulmakeupping · 31/03/2013 08:40

I love the name Camille so pretty and unusual :)

Christelle2207 · 31/03/2013 08:32

i also like camelia. saw an air stewardess with that on her badge (years ago) and has been on my list since.

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 31/03/2013 00:23

Camille is lovely

squishee · 30/03/2013 20:33

I live in France, where Francine was a popular name maybe 70 years ago. It is also a well-known flour brand, and has all those homely / traditional French connotations.
I can understand why it might work better in the UK or elsewhere.

delilah88 · 30/03/2013 20:26

How about Georgina?
