Ok, I'm nearly a week overdue and so running out of time to decide on a name! We have a short (ish) list of names which DH and I both like but none of them really leap out at us, iykwim?

We do want quite 'traditional' names and our surname is 2 syllables if that helps.

So....opinions please:

James Michael
Thomas Robert / Thomas James
Dylan James
Oliver James
Samuel Robert / Samuel James
Henry James
Daniel James

Thanks in advance, please don't be too scathing!

They're all good and classic but I think Dylan James is especially lovely.
Good luck with the birth!

NotInMyDay · 25/03/2013 19:32

I like Thomas the best and would go for Thomas Robert rather than Thomas James to avoid any possibility of TJ.

I like Thomas Michael though Wink

Henry James or Samuel James from your list, but basically I like them all. Good strong, solid names.
Also gonna throw in Max, Hugh & Edward.

Beatrixpotty · 25/03/2013 19:42

I like Dylan James too

StandbyForNothing · 25/03/2013 19:42

Henry James for me. Dylan James was on my list when I was a teenager but by the time I was pregnant years later, I didn't love it as much.

MarketingMonkey · 25/03/2013 19:48

lots of these are on my shortlist too! Like them all although Henry James makes me think of the author but they just be me.

windywoo26 · 25/03/2013 19:50

I LOVE your list. I am biased as I have a Samuel James. Also love Thomas James and Daniel James but think they are all great combinations

CognitiveOverload · 25/03/2013 19:51

Samuel James :)

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 25/03/2013 20:17

I like Michael as a first name. Much less commonplace and a lovely name

Out of the rest, I like

Henry
Daniel
Samuel

in that order

Spiderfrommars · 25/03/2013 20:21

I love the name Michael.Would go for Michael James or Michael Thomas.

RemindMeWhatSleepIs · 25/03/2013 20:23

They are all good strong solid names. Maybe wait till you meet your baby and see what suits him.

NutBiscuit · 25/03/2013 20:43

Thanks all! Not really keen on Michael as a first name, mainly because I don't really like the short forms which would inevitably get used. RemindMe, i think that that is what we will end up doing, but I wanted to narrow our options down a bit before then. Hopefully won't have too much longer to wait!
