Last ditch desperate attempt to name my 2 week old daughter. Please help...

I cannot decide my daughters name, and you would not believe the pressure this is putting me under! Nothing seems to fit her and I am scared I'm going to have to just go with something I'm not entirely happy with just for the sake of choosing. I seem to find fault in every name I come up with- too popular, too bland, not good with surname, a friend has already used it etc.

To give some examples of the types of names I like:
Ellis- doesn't really suit her
Ruby- pretty popular, bit bland?
Ava- v v popular, don't want her to be one of five in get class
Honor- is this cool or frumpy?? Is it an attractive name or hard to live up to?
Reese?

I also like a name my friends daughter is called but am afraid it will piss her off if I use it and it feels like her name if you see what I mean.

I don't want too cute and girly but I do want cool, attractive and maybe a wee bit different.

Any suggestions??

My favourite boy/girls name that didn't get the approval of Dp was Dillan/Dylan. Love it!!

But other names I also really like (we argued over Wink) are:
Betsy
Elsie - although seen your other half doesn't either
Eliza
Lottie
Bonnie
Nancy
India
Hattie
Frankie
Lucy

Sod the name and enjoy your Dd. and if its any help, if a friend of mine wanted to use my Dd's name forgot her own baby I'd be flattered rather than anything else?!

Hi, don't know why but looking at your list
Stella
Jumped in to mi mind.

wannabeEostregoddess · 21/03/2013 17:39

DD2 is Sophia and (ok shes only 4 months) but it doesnt get shortened to sophie. I have never heard of that at all.

nooka · 21/03/2013 17:39

Honor is rather stylish I think. For some reason I don't associate it with the virtue. Perhaps that's because I've always rather liked Honor Blackman.

BeeBopDingALing · 21/03/2013 17:36

Really like Honor, great name.

overmydeadbody · 21/03/2013 17:34

If it helps, I have taught lots of Sophias/Sofia/Safia and they never get shrotened to Sophie

Oops meant to highlight Ikeameatballs, not stike her out!

What about Thea?

mum47 · 21/03/2013 17:28

Ellis is more commonly a boy's name - not that this should put you off but might bother you if it causes confusion.

Honor is lovely, and a bit unusual. Ava and Ruby are lovely too, think they are both quite popular at the mo if tht would bother you.

Ikeameatballs has given you a lovely list. I really like Polly and Harriet.

TiggerWearsATriteSmile · 21/03/2013 17:24

Honor is beautiful.

dopeysheep · 21/03/2013 17:13

Jessica Alba's daughter is called Honor. The other one is Haven.

TheRedQueen · 21/03/2013 17:08

Ruth?
Miriam?

Also like Juliet and Estelle as mentioned somewhere above.

dopeysheep · 21/03/2013 17:07

I know a girl called Jamie which I like but not sure what it's short for.

MackerelOfFact · 21/03/2013 17:06

Honor is quite nice and unusual. Unless your surname is Oak or Killing or something.

How about Nora? Darcy? Logan? Rowan?

dopeysheep · 21/03/2013 17:04

Piper?

RooneyMara · 21/03/2013 16:59

Deanna

Elspeth

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 21/03/2013 16:57

Honor is def the good side of old-lady. Just be careful in case your surname is Plate or similar...

almostanotherday · 21/03/2013 16:56

Ellise or Ellissa

There are some really gorgeous names on here. Rosa, Honor, Ramona and Margot are all slightly wild and unusual.

I like Roxana/Roseanna and LOVE Ada as well (much better than Ava!) and reminds me of the great female scholar Ada Lovelace who invented computer programming. Speaking of which Aphra is a pretty cool name too.

ATouchOfStuffing · 21/03/2013 16:53

Theo as a girls name?
