Last ditch desperate attempt to name my 2 week old daughter. Please help...

I cannot decide my daughters name, and you would not believe the pressure this is putting me under! Nothing seems to fit her and I am scared I'm going to have to just go with something I'm not entirely happy with just for the sake of choosing. I seem to find fault in every name I come up with- too popular, too bland, not good with surname, a friend has already used it etc.

To give some examples of the types of names I like:
Ellis- doesn't really suit her
Ruby- pretty popular, bit bland?
Ava- v v popular, don't want her to be one of five in get class
Honor- is this cool or frumpy?? Is it an attractive name or hard to live up to?
Reese?

I also like a name my friends daughter is called but am afraid it will piss her off if I use it and it feels like her name if you see what I mean.

I don't want too cute and girly but I do want cool, attractive and maybe a wee bit different.

Any suggestions??

How about Elizabeth? You can then take all the time you want deciding which of the many versions you want to call her...lilibet, Lizzie, lily, Eliza, Beth, etc etc

Classy timeless and names that suit little girls and women !

Honor is beautiful and stylish. I also like Ellis from your list. Some other good suggestions here - I like Margot/Margaux.

But don't let other people pressure you into naming her before you're ready. My DD was unnamed for ten days because I wanted to get it right, and I think I really did in the end Smile (went with my first instinct eventually!) You have up to four weeks before you need to register her.

goingdownhill · 21/03/2013 21:48

Go for Honor, it is my dd1's name. She is 4 and a feisty little tomboy. I love her name and have never regretted it for a second. She is my 3rd DC so we know a lot of small children. We have never met or heard of another through all schools/nursery/clubs etc.

I think Ava is lovely but extremely popular.

I also love Ariadne, Evangeline and Aurelia if any of those help. Smile

I already said Honor further up thread but I'm just telling you I know a Sofia that's always just Sofia and a Sophia that gets called Soph's by her siblings.

Still hoping you choose Honor :)

Please let us know.

Love Honor, beautiful name.

poorpaws · 21/03/2013 20:02

For a more unusal name than Honor what about Ondra. I know a lady with this name and she is very beautiful and her name really suits her. Id never heard of it before the Ondra I know (not sure if it might be spelt Hondra but pronounced Ondra).

Honor is lovely.

But i have a Lily and Lola so what do i know Grin

MmeThenardier · 21/03/2013 19:41

I know a Sofia. It is never shortened. Certainly not to Sophie which is just a different name. I would no more shorten David to Dan. It's pretty and you agree on it which is clearly part of the problem. Have Sofia!

Or Olive. I like this.

DialsMavis · 21/03/2013 19:39

We know 1 Sofia. She is definitely just Sofia
