What do you think?

We really like it. Wanted a strong, classic, traditional name.

Any comments?

Oh I am far from wise when it comes to baby names - hence why I have a million different posts because I keep changing my mind! I learned my lesson from last time though where I discussed names with people. Thankfully we changed our mind and didn't tell anyone our choice for our son. I am keeping my lips sealed this time.

But honestly, you cannot go wrong with Elizabeth. It is lovely. I have had two dreams in which we call this baby Elizabeth so perhaps it is a sign that we should also go with Elizabeth!

Our son is George if that gives you any indication of my taste in names. I like traditional, classic and elegant names.

See that's why I don't tell anyone our name ideas because people have different reactions...I only discuss with my husband and of course Mumsnet.

Thanks guys - feel happy again! My mum kinda killed my fizz with a v muted response (shouldn't have told her!).

Think we would go with Eli or Beth as nicknames :-))))

Love it and on the list for our DD. Has always been on our list and always in the back of my mind. Not sure about which nickname I would choose - probably Beth although I love Betty.

It's an absolute classic and one that will carry her through life.

Much prefer Elisabeth.

But I am not the biggest fan of 'z's in names...

I know an Elizabeth who has been nicknamed Queenie! Always makes me chuckle, but in a good way.

Love the name. So classy and timeless.

LadyLech · 21/03/2013 01:22

Absolutely love it. If I had a third DD, she would be an Elizabeth. The only thing that puts me off the name is the fact that I don't like the nns Liz or Lizzie. Of course, they may never choose that nn, but they might and if she did, could you cope with it (or any of the other shortenings that you may not like).

Other than that, fab name!

Yay thank you Mortified!

I know of a baby elizabeth (6mo) and another 7mo with it as her MN. I love it, along with all the possible nicknames (Betty being my favourite), and think it really doesnt date.
