Ideas for our third

busybeeme · 20/03/2013 21:01

We have awhile to go but I'd be grateful for thoughts on our lists so far for number 3. And any suggestions to add to them

Hector
Barnaby
Casper
Ted/Teddy (Edward)

Annie (Annabel/Annabella)
Ottilie
Arabella
Ophelia
Autumn

We already have our boys, Sebastian and Ethan

I think Ted/Teddy for a boy, that goes well.

Girls names- I would steer clear of Arabella because I know 2 and they are both vile. How do you pronounce Ottilie? I only like Autumn if she is going to be born in that season. I know a Summer who was born mid December and \i think its a bit odd!

I also think its very rude to comment on names of children that have already been named, esp if op has not even asked for opinions on them.

delilah88 · 21/03/2013 12:40

Or Eleanor would fit beautifully.

delilah88 · 21/03/2013 12:39

Ed and Caspar v nice. Ottilie best of girls.
What about Greta, Agatha -- or Matilda!

mayanna123 · 21/03/2013 12:30

I'd avoid Hector due to the negative meaning, but I like all the others. In particular love Casper, Quentin, Ophelia and Arabella!

Agree that pigletpower's comment isn't helpful.

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 21/03/2013 12:24

Ophelia and Casper would be my pick......lovely!

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 21/03/2013 12:23

Piglet power I don't think there was any need to say that, op wasn't asking you to comment on the names already given to her dc.

shoobidoo · 21/03/2013 12:05

"Your boys names are quite different-Sebastian is quite posh, whilst Ethan ...isn't."

Interesting how some people like to categorise names by posh/chavness - seems a very British thing Smile. Does it really matter? Choose a name you love!

shoobidoo · 21/03/2013 12:03

Hector - awful meaning (to hector = to bully, to torment) and potentially awful nicknames - Heck!

I love all your other names and think that with Sebastian and Ethan these would go well:
Ottilie
Ophelia
Antonia
and for boys
Quentin
Casper
Cassian

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 20/03/2013 23:51

Hector would be a striking choice, I like the rest too.

From the list of girls' names I'd be tempted by Ottilie and Autumn - would this be an autumn EDD? - but probably in this instance go for Arabella.

manicinsomniac · 20/03/2013 23:34

I like Edward and Casper from your boys list. Hector sounds a bit harsh to me and Barnaby a bit soppy.

Love Arabella from your girls. Also really like Annabel, Annabella, Ophelia and Autumn. I'm not keen on Ottilie and don't like Annie.

busybeeme · 20/03/2013 22:34

There are 2 years between them.
Ethan was born very prematurely, quickly and unexpectedly. As soon as he was born it felt important he had a name and that was one that came to me.

I very much like the name, just not its popularity perhaps, which I had no idea of at the time.

Bertie is lovely but is a no from my husband

I think Edward and annabel go best with your boys names.

pigletpower · 20/03/2013 22:24

Your boys names are quite different-Sebastian is quite posh, whilst Ethan ...isn't.
Is there a few years between them? Annie is fab and we had ALL of your boy choices before we had DD! We also toyed with Bertie.
