I LOVE it! I may have to steal it.... ;-)

toobreathless · 22/03/2013 00:29

LOVE it! Especially Rupert, unusual yet easy to say and spell and so strong.

PurpleStorm · 22/03/2013 00:09

Not keen on Rupert, sorry. Sounds a bit wet to me. And also reminds me of Rupert the Bear.

Love James though.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 21/03/2013 15:51

Ruaraidh is pronounced Rory, or thereabouts. Much stronger than Rupert, that does make me think of a very posh chinless wonder, unfortunately, sorry. Rupert the Bear?

mayanna123 · 21/03/2013 13:24

Agree that Rupert is MUCH nicer than Rudolph (Rudy = Rude-y to me), Rudiah or Ruaraidh (however that is pronounced...).

GirlOutNumbered · 21/03/2013 12:42

Love the whole name,
Love Roo, Rudy and RJ.

A winner!

OBface · 21/03/2013 12:37

Really like it. As well as the shortening to Roo.

All the Ruperts I've known have been lovely

MrsMarigold · 21/03/2013 12:36

we wanted to call our son Rupert James Thomas this but had to go with Robert instead because it is a family name and it was a bit political. I love it - do it.

As for Rueben, Ruaraidh or Rudiah, sorry BebopdingALing - I hate them all.

Mrsrobertduvall · 21/03/2013 12:35

Love James but Rupert no.
I imagine a chinless wonder.

mayanna123 · 21/03/2013 12:31

Lovely name combo - Rupert is a great name!

dashoflime · 20/03/2013 12:10

Really nice combination. Makes me think of Rupert Giles from Buffy.

Sunshineandwaves · 20/03/2013 12:10

I think it's a great name!

shoobidoo · 20/03/2013 12:09

Rupert is great and much nicer than Rudolph imo!

olivertheoctopus · 19/03/2013 23:10

Love Rupert. Is on our list!

WormCanner · 19/03/2013 18:51

Or Rudolph which can also be Rudy.

BeeBopDingALing · 19/03/2013 18:13

If you like the nn Roo you could go for Rueben, Ruaraidh or Rudiah which are a bit stronger than Rupert.

WormCanner · 19/03/2013 17:58

I agree with you, OP. You could say the same of Roland, another name which I like.

wedontplaywithelectrics · 19/03/2013 17:52

Thanks for your comments. The Murdoch connection doesn't bother us tbh. Rupert Murdoch's son is a James too, haha!
We were more concerned about it being viewed as a "poncey/wet/posh" name, but the general feeling and feedback is that it has a certain classic, elegant appeal. I think this baby will be our little Roo :-)

I love Rupert, great name.

OkayHazel · 19/03/2013 17:51

Love them!

shoobidoo · 19/03/2013 17:50

Lovely combo but then almost any names works well with James as middle name - hence why it's become somewhat of a default middle name (we have one too: Quentin James!).

dragonflymama · 19/03/2013 17:16

Love them together!

Beatrixpotty · 19/03/2013 16:58

They sound good together, nice classic names.

BeeBopDingALing · 19/03/2013 16:50

Rupert is a bit of a wet name. Really like James, classic and lovely. If definitely using both I would reverse them.

landofsoapandglory · 19/03/2013 16:05

I like it.
