Thoughts on Martha or Lucy?

What are people's thoughts on these two? Middle name rose (family name) as a little sister for Reid?

Just going to throw in Nancy as a possibility- I think Nancy Rose is a great name.

I have a Martha Rose Grin so obviously have a preference. Lucy was also in my top three and I think it's a lovely name. I have come across one other little Martha but no other little Lucy's so far of a similar age (3). Personally I think Rose goes slightly better with Martha than Lucy as a middle name.

I love Lucy always have

I've always thought of Martha as pretty old fashioned but have noticed it's coming back in vogue again

Lucy seems like a name of our own generation to me - wouldn't give it to a child. Martha's lovely though.

I love Martha. I went to college with a Martha years ago and have always liked it. Old fashioned but not twee.

Unfortunately I know a really unpleasant little Martha so that has ruined the name for me.

Oooh, both are gorgeous! Martha is more interesting. I'd vote for Martha if pushed. I also like Alice which has similar feel to Lucy? What would you prefer to be called? good luck x

I really like both. Martha is becoming pretty popular here along with Marnie. Don't know any Lucys.

I like both. I have a Lucy, but it is short for a longer name. I found it a bit lacking in imagination on its own, nice for a little girl, bit boring for an adult, so my Lucy has a lovely longer name she can choose to use later (and I use now)

Lots of Lucys around too

I have a Lucy, and was suprised by how very common it was. I wanted to call her Elenor, but DH vetoed it. Rose is my other daughter's middle name, also a family name.

I love Martha. Wanted to call DD that but DH was horrified, thought it too old fashioned. Where he sees old fashioned, I see timeless.

Lucy is nice too, although I'd guess a lot more common.

who dares say that lucy is a dull name!!!!! I have to say, i like Martha too - if i was to be pairing it with rose i would choose martha

I don't agree that Lucy is a dull and boring name it brings to mind fun loving and cheerful.

Martha is gorgeous! One of my favorite girls names. Lucy is very run of the mill...three were three in DS1's class, one Lucy up the road, one down the road...it's a nice name, but there are far too many of them.
