If I like Penelope, what else would I like?

Put off this lovely name by Kardashian associations

Something classic, easily recognisable, pretty but 'staid' enough that it wouldn't be a hindrance in any serious job she may have.

Our 17 week old is called Penelope and only one person has ever mentioned any 'celebrity' connection. I had no idea that it had been used 'famously'. In a year noone at all will know. I am utterly biased but I think it is gorgeous - we had it picked long before we knew we wanted kids!

If we had another girl we would probably go for:

My dd is penelope and was born just a few weeks before one of the kardashians named their baby the same. tbh i really dont give a hoot as my babies name suits her. we do call her penny which i also love.
so do it, dont worry about other people

WormCanner I LOVE Delphine! It's been my preferred girl's name since I found out I was pregnant and incredibly, my husband likes it too.

Cocolocopoco I completely agree with others who've said that Penelope Kardashian-whatsherchops will be completely forgotten in a few years (although prob/hopefully not by her parents). I think if you love it, you should stick with it. I only know one Penelope, and she's lovely.

N.B. my initial thought when reading your post was Harriet (well actually it was Arietty because Penelope Wilton was in the the BBC production of The Borrowers!)

The Kardashians will have hopefully disappeared in a few years, so don't let that put you off a name that will be with her for life. It's a gorgeous name, and you can call her Penny...love it.

But others like Claudia, Cecily, Elodie, Marianne, Cecilia, Helena, Theodora, Gaia all have the same feel. But stick with Penelope!
