Can't decide between these two.

Hector Edward or Edgar William?

Do you think that Edgar will get 'Eggie'?

I love edgar its my middle name sometimes wish I had called ds that

flat4 · 10/03/2013 14:46

I think Edgar is more timeless and Hector is more 'hip'. But I am a sucker for a hip name!

My heart says Hector but I am slightly concerned about the verb.

Hector

Not over fond of Edgar but like Edmund.

burleyburley · 10/03/2013 15:22

Edgar William sounds like a great name. I know a few baby Hectors. It does seem very of the moment.

WhoPaintedTheLion · 10/03/2013 15:45

Hector!

noddyholder · 10/03/2013 15:56

I think Ed is quite hip though. Having said that my ds has a hip name Grin

Rhubarbgarden · 10/03/2013 15:58

I love Edgar. Fabulous name.

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 10/03/2013 16:36

Edgar is great!
Hector is nice too...

BeeBopDingALing · 10/03/2013 18:45

I don't like either, especially Edgar and think both could be targets for bullies (I know any name could but these are a bit much). I would reverse them if I had to use them and have either Edward or William as a first name.

noddyholder · 10/03/2013 20:10

Targets for bullies? they are both classics

BeeBopDingALing · 10/03/2013 20:22

I guess you could say that about Hubert or Humphrey, but you know if you named your child either of those you would be setting up them up for a difficult time.

noddyholder · 10/03/2013 20:24

What do you base this on?

iclaudius · 10/03/2013 20:30

V popular trendy Edgar round here
Hector more mainstream now

BeeBopDingALing · 10/03/2013 20:32

I work with young children and see the awful side of bullying.

NightmareSpoon · 10/03/2013 20:32

Love Edgar.

noddyholder · 10/03/2013 20:33

Oh I see never heard of bullying over a name especially a classic.

BeeBopDingALing · 10/03/2013 20:36

It happens a lot unfortunately Sad

iclaudius · 10/03/2013 21:10

Must say never come across it and am old time parenter

jkklpu · 10/03/2013 22:59

neither, sorry
prefer Edmund/Edward to Edgar

FranKatzenjammer · 10/03/2013 23:06

I think of Edgar as quite hip actually- eg. Edgar Wright (Director of Shaun of the Dead etc), Edgar Davids (Dutch former footballer extraordinaire), and Egg from 'This Life' was also an Edgar.

moonblues · 10/03/2013 23:08

Hector!

sleepdodger · 10/03/2013 23:16

Love both, slight pref to Edgar, tis getting popular round these parts, think tge new Oscar...

blondieminx · 10/03/2013 23:27

Edgar

OkayHazel · 11/03/2013 00:23

Re: the bullying.

He'll fit in fine at Eton, would have the piss taken at a state comp. Names depend on circumstance sometimes.

Edgar is more bully-proof I'd say, due to Ed as a nickname.

NowPlayingZone · 11/03/2013 10:11

Edgar is fab!
