Elizabeth?

DC2 is due in a couple of weeks. I love the name Elizabeth and would probably go with middle name of Rose (I know this is the latest equivalent of Louise but I like it)

However, is Elizabeth going to get really popular? They seem to be popping up everywhere, or that may be because I am more aware of it. I'm also worried that if William and Catherine have a girl, Elizabeth might be on the cards for them which would mean mega popularity.

My DS has a normal traditional name (maybe considered boring!) that isnt that common anymore. I like the fact that we don't come across it too often and he's the only one at nursery etc. Would like a similar name for Dc2.

Other possible choice are Josephine or Charlotte.

What do you think? (or other suggestions)

Love elizabeth and all the shortened versions

Josephine is lovely too

Elizabeth is lovely, I only know one young one, who must be 5 or 6.

Because you can be Lizzy, Eliza or Beth it's never going to matter if it does become popular.

I love Elizabeth.

I'm slightly biased though, it's my name! Although I'm usually Liz or Lizzie. Never Lizzy or Beth though.

We've recently discovered that #4 is a girl and Elisabeth is on our 'final five' list. The 's' spelling is how it features in my family; my great-grandmother was Elisabeth and it's my mum's middle name.

To be honest, I don't think you need to be too worried about the whole William and Catherine thing, because if they do have a girl and name it Elizabeth, I can't see it becoming much more popular. After all, it's fairly popular now, because it's such a versatile name. If anything, I think if they used it, it might put more people off it.

I know we haven't been given an exact due date for Royal Bump, but if Catherine is as far along as they say, then I'm due around the same time. Even then, if they opt for Elizabeth, it wouldn't stop me using Elisabeth (if that is indeed our chosen name).

I do like Josephine as well, very much so, but my sister has "dibs" on that so I can't use it.

Elizabeth is classic and versatile. It will survive being hugely popular (if that happens) very well, so I would go for it. How about Josephine as the middle name?

Elizabeth's great. It's our DD's middle name (we'd have used it as her first name, but a friend took it first!). Classic and with a range of nicknames if needed.

Josephine's... well. Charlotte's really commonplace.
