For a boy? Is it too soft sounding? Dh says he will be teased (but offers no suggestions).

It's okay, have heard plenty worse!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 13/03/2013 20:07

I know a Lynden, he's Welsh. It's a great name.

NowPlayingZone · 12/03/2013 10:35

I knew a Linden, he was fairly effeminate so I always think of the name as such. Don't know why as its quite nice.
Definitely not. Strong name though. A lover, not a fighter!

WormCanner · 11/03/2013 12:03

Probably Lynden David Hall

squoosh · 10/03/2013 03:39

Linden Hall popped into my mind although I'm not sure why. Could be a place, could be a person. Must google.

HairyHandedTrucker · 10/03/2013 03:25

my DD is a dinosaur train fan too Wink

HairyHandedTrucker · 10/03/2013 03:21

tinyshinyanddon · 10/03/2013 02:47

Too bad I have a dislike for the letter y. Ah well, 10 days to go I am sure we will figure something out.

I really like it!

And I don't normally like "surname" names because I think they're chavy but this one isn't.

I would spell it Lyndon though, otherwise the spelling of it is a bit on the made up side - and that is chavy.

Of course he would be called Lyn by his friends after the age of about 7-8.

WormCanner · 08/03/2013 14:11

Not in my experience, but when I was young there was a famous athlete called Lynn Davies so the name was familiar for men as well as women.

sausagebaconandtomatobutty · 08/03/2013 07:29

Well yes it can be shortened to Lyn but depending on where you live, Lyn for a man would get some very odd looks

WormCanner · 08/03/2013 00:57

Can't be shortened? Hmm Lyndon is usually shortened to Lyn in my experience

sausagebaconandtomatobutty · 07/03/2013 18:48

I know a Linden, Lyndon and Linton

Very individual names but can't be shortened so if they don't suit or dcs don't like them they are stuck

Can't say I'm a fan seem a bit pretentious and or wussy

Lyndon is quite popular in Wales, so what with that and LBJ it won't raise any eyebrows. Linden otoh looks effeminate on the page.

So although it shouldn't matter since they sound the same, I would choose Lyndon for a boy.

skifternavn · 07/03/2013 17:08

I wouldn't it is currency if you play SecondLife.

vess · 07/03/2013 11:13

I like it. Could have called DS that.

tinyshinyanddon · 07/03/2013 04:03

Yes Fran I figured that was a muddle up of Lincoln (which was suggested to me as a possibility but it's just too presidential for me. Linden/Lyndon I can handle

Robin Hood and his men wore lincoln green, not linden green.

MrsP23 · 06/03/2013 18:58

I loved this name but my dh would not have it for similar reasons as yours.

Wasn't there a doctor in holby city called linden!?!

HeadingHome · 06/03/2013 02:37

I knew an attractive rugby player called Lyndon (not sure of the spelling), so not girly in my mind!

OkayHazel · 06/03/2013 02:19

Lyndon Johnson is a wonderful namesake!

tinyshinyanddon · 06/03/2013 01:49

Hmm. Well not a terrible response from mnetters which is good. I've had a good response in our "adopted" country so wanted some uk input to check we are not living in crazytown.

sounds like a name of a house in a 1980's cul de sac

forgetmenots · 05/03/2013 18:06

I know a lovely Linden but she is a (very beautiful and nice) woman! Can't imagine it on a boy, but that may be because I know a woman with the name!
