simonthedog · 01/03/2013 19:59

they say tal-ee-ess-in where I am in Wales, but i'm not welsh.

surroundedbyblondes · 01/03/2013 19:53

However his parents decide!

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 01/03/2013 19:51

Tal-ee-ESS-in is over-pronuncing?

Tal-es-in is under-pronuncing?

And Tal-YES-in is correct?

With the 'YES' in the middle said in the same way as 'yes'? It sounds odd said that way to my English ear....or perhaps it's just my accent Grin
Or more like Tal-yuhs-in? and Confused

Happy st David's day!

Gwennan has it right - it is Tal-YES-in. Tally-ess-in is like pronouncing Pontypandy as Pontee-pandy Wink.

HorryDrelincourt · 01/03/2013 13:01

The only one I have known was tally-ESS-in

Gwennan · 01/03/2013 12:50

I've heard it pronounced tal-YES-in

Sidge · 01/03/2013 12:37

This is my Welsh friend's son's name and they pronounce it Tally-ESS-un.

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 01/03/2013 12:29

But I have a feeling it isn't the correct one...
