Once met a Santiago with nn Jago, which I think is brilliant.

wizzler · 08/03/2013 21:06

Agree the nn must be jimmy or Jim! How about Ferdinand as his middle name to keep the Spanish connection?

Lucia2013 · 07/03/2013 22:08

Thank you so much with all the messages. We still haven´t decided the second name but I agree something shorter and two syllable or less! We have started telling people the name and they really like it!! :-)

James, Jim or Jack. I mut be sharing a brain with ANNE

AnneEyhtMeyer · 02/03/2013 01:22

Nickname is surely Jim, if you are calling him Saint James?

stifnstav · 02/03/2013 01:14

Santiago Charles is good. Pick that!

CitizenOscar · 01/03/2013 21:02

Santi!

Santiago Matthew
Santiago Charles
Santiago William
Santiago Eugene

noddyholder · 01/03/2013 20:53

I know one called Tags

WhiteHairReally · 01/03/2013 20:53

Both Santiagos we know (one 16, the other 2 rising 3) are known as Santi.

Bartlet4America · 01/03/2013 17:30

(And although it looks weird written down, it sounds really 'right' for him and nice when said out loud... if you get me!)

Bartlet4America · 01/03/2013 17:29

Had to comment on this - I know a Santiago, he is so gorgeous and a truly lovely man.

He introduces himself as Santi.

Best wishes!!

(As a nickname)

Middle name should be something like Clint, Jack, or Rafe. Something really cool, and I think one syllable sounds best.

FrankWippery · 01/03/2013 17:00

My (Argentinian) godson is called Tiago. They thought about Santiago, but decided on Tiago. I love it.

OkayHazel · 01/03/2013 16:58

Iago! Like the parrot in Aladdin. (And I suppose Othello, but let us not pretend I'm cultured).

CheeseStrawWars · 28/02/2013 15:47

Santiago Matthias

ErikNorseman · 28/02/2013 15:34

Sorry OP I didn't notice you wanted an English mn. Santiago Lucas, Santiago Caleb, Santiago Peter...not Santiago Wilfred Grin

ErikNorseman · 28/02/2013 15:30

Santiago does not go with Wilfred or Herbert. They sound ridiculous together. Rude schmude.

Pasiphae · 28/02/2013 14:21

As a British middle name, what's wrong with Wilfred? Herbert is rarer but why not.
You're rather rude.

rachel234 · 28/02/2013 13:41

Santiago is a cool name and I'm sure a nickname (Santy, Tiago or Siggy) will evolve naturally. Also, I know a Sebastian and a Dominic whose names never seem to get shortenend so it is not inevitable that longer names get shortened. My dd's name has 3 syllables too and nobody ever seems to shorten it...

For middle names how about you choose a family name with some meaning to you? They rarely get used anyway.

littletingoddess · 28/02/2013 13:25

I know a Marcelo, in Brazil, who is an absolutely lovely person. That may be why I am partial to the name. :)

ErikNorseman · 28/02/2013 12:51

Santiago Wilfred? Santiago Herbert? Are you avin a larf?

I personally don't think Santiago needs a mn, but if you must, it should be vaguely Latin. Santiago Luca, Santiago Carlos, Santiago rafi, something like that.
