Which would you pick and why??

Penelope, perhaps, after a lot of deliberation, maybe Juno.

I do like jemima, I really do, but in my head its always followed by puddle duck.

So, in short, wouldn't be my first choice after Kourtney K but Penelope.

BOF · 27/02/2013 16:44

Anything but Juno, which is far too "fashion", IMO, and will be horribly dated in a few years.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 27/02/2013 16:57

Juno

The other two are a bit prissy.

I agree it is quite fashionable, but nonetheless I like it.

What about

Joy
Julia

They are both feminine but a bit stronger- sounding

sw11mumofone · 27/02/2013 18:16

Always think Juno sounds like Aussie slang for June!
Probably Jemima if I had to but only because I would worry that Penelope would get shortened to Penny which i really dislike.

Happysurprise · 27/02/2013 18:23

I really like Juno but can decide if it really is faddy or not. Why has it suddenly become popular? The film was ages ago and whilst I dont know any mothers with little Junos, there do seem to be quite a few discussions on Mumsnet about it.

The UK name database thing says that there were only 30 Junos recorded in 2010, which isnt very popular at all.

Do you think its because we are in a specific demographic who 1) watched the film and it raised awareness of the name subconsciously 2) use mumset 3) think its pretty and unique

Its really interesting ....to me anyway..... I also like certain boys names that I thought I liked for unique and personal reasons and then I see them coming up all together on one persons list.

PixelAteMyFace · 27/02/2013 19:03

I`d probably choose Penelope, but shorten it to Nell as I dislike the nn Penny.

I just don`t like Juno, sounds a bit faddy to me.

Jemima is pretty but a bit twee, and would inevitably be shortened to Jimmy.

DickdastardlyAndMutley · 27/02/2013 19:10

Thanks BOF that is a great website, I've seen it before. So only 30 babies called Juno in 2010, that would be a huge plus for me as I don't want anything too popular. I can't see it entering the top 100 too soon.

Happy surprise, I think it may be a mumsnet thing to be honest. And I suppose just because people talk about it quite a bit here doesn't necessarily mean they are using it. Though it would be interesting o see the stats for 2011.

I like Jemima best

nectarini1983 · 27/02/2013 21:37

Juno sounds like Aussie slang to me too. .. ' Struth the beach is rammo Juno'!! And will be shortened to June.

Penelope....pit stop!

Jemima...puddle duck!

Sorry none are to my taste but it's your baby....

DessieLou · 28/02/2013 05:39

I don't like Juno. Penelope gets my vote.

Timetoask · 28/02/2013 05:43

I don't like Jemima
Penelope is nice but is such a mouth-full!
Love Juno, very quirky and different.

Imaginethat · 28/02/2013 05:47

Jemima is beautiful

ripsishere · 28/02/2013 05:48

Truthfully, I don't like any of your choices, but that's the beauty of life. Choice.
If I had another daughter she'd be called Anna, Julia or Ellen.

BananaHammocks · 28/02/2013 07:36

In 2011 there were 31 girls called Juno so it hasn't jumped much!

WhatKatyDidnt · 28/02/2013 09:20

I think Juniper is a nice alternative to Juno.

DickdastardlyAndMutley · 28/02/2013 16:58

Thanks Banana for that info, soit seems people are talking about it but not really using it. I'm not sure with it really, I love it some days then other days I worry that itsouds too masculine!

Not Juno-probably Jemima first, then Penelope. But not Juno

starsthatshine · 28/02/2013 20:34

Jemima,I just love it. Don't like the 'sound' of the other 2 when I say them!

Rhubarbgarden · 28/02/2013 22:27

Juno.
