A brother for Wilf

I am delighted that we're having another little boy but slightly stumped as I'd only thought of girls' names (Wren or Juno). I have nothing in the jar for a little boy.

I like unusual names, but don't want the poor bugger having to repeat his name forever and a day. Or be one of five in his school year.

Surname begins with R.

Also, and this shouldn't be taken the wrong way. My christian name is Camilla and so I am slightly loathe to go for anything too posh as people make assumptions about me that aren't true. So names like Monty et al (which I LOVE) are out as I've got a complex about people thinking I'm a ponce because I'm called Camilla. Hope that doesn't make me sound utterly bonkers?

Jago - I do like it but it does sound very similar to Diego when pronounced (IMO) - put me off a bit.

When I hear Wilf and not posh I was thinking Woody and Spike, but that doesn't seem to be the right style for you?

Like Wren? Rex? Ross?

Louis?
Inigo?
Fred?

Love Stanley by the way - think it goes v well.....

I have a Barnaby (Barney) and Rafferty (Raffy) - awesome names IMHO! We get lots of nice comments on their names and there aren't many Barney's and Raffy's around at the moment. A lot of the other lovely boys names are getting a bit too fashionable which is a shame.

AgathaPinchBottom · 26/02/2013 21:43

I've got a Stan! Middle name Arthur....
If we had another boy we would have Wilf (!) or Billy or Fred.

Other ideas: Ralph, Kit, Kip, Eddie, Victor, Hector, Bertie.

wanderinglonelyasacloud · 26/02/2013 21:41

Ooooo...and hector, Rory and Kit

So Barnaby is looking popular. Thanks all.

Brain dead - I loved loads of your names! Jago is also another of my faves...it's Cornish, right? My parents are both Cornish so I'm allowed that! Sort of.

Ha ha just read your OP again properly and saw the 'no posh names' thing. My list was rather inappropriate in the main then eh? Grin

Glad you liked Otis though. My other faves from your list are Barnaby and Rafferty. Not keen on Arlo sounds like Harlow with a dropped h and Arthur and Stanley v popular FWIW.

toastedteacake · 26/02/2013 20:57

Wilf and Stan sound fab together.

Catsdontcare · 26/02/2013 20:56

Wilf and Barnaby has a nice ring to it

LittleMilla · 26/02/2013 20:53

We've also just agreed on Reginald (Reg) and also Ronnie. Yes, I know!

Any thoughts or opinions on our short ish list?!

Robin was my husband's grandpa, one of wilf's middle names. DH loves it.

DH really likes Arthur. I like it but already know of a couple and fear that it might end up being quite common.

I really like Arlo, DH hates it Hmm. This is going to be tough!

Definitely Robin! My DS1 is Barnaby so very biased towards that. Also have Milo and Magnus on our list which might work for you.

Bumping this as I'm with DH tonight (we do live together, just both travelling lots with work!) and I'd like to get the chat going!

Forgot to say that before we knew what we were having we'd pretty much decided on Wren for a girl. So I'd like the male version of that - easy to say, spell but unusual. Not too fussy, hey!?!?
