I love it... I know one nn Athie... Very cute and not at all strange.

It was on my shortlist for DD before said friend used it!

GinAndT0nic · 17/02/2013 12:22

does that really matter/ to be associated with a shop. we have Mark(s) and Spencer, Adams (closed down as well), it's a shop, not a serial killer.

AmandaCooper · 17/02/2013 12:19

I'm 35 and strongly associate it with the poster shop. I wouldn't let that put you off if you and your friends are younger.

SilveryMoon · 17/02/2013 05:01

Athena is a beautiful name. Not at all strange.
(Bit disappointed, thought I'd get a giggle) go for it op!

PoppyWearer · 17/02/2013 04:08

I know an Athena and love it! It was a name we considered at one point for our DD.

anonymosity · 17/02/2013 04:06

I sit corrected.

MidnightMasquerader · 17/02/2013 03:13

I'm under 40.

anonymosity · 17/02/2013 02:29

It will only be poster shop for those over 40

Elginge · 17/02/2013 01:00

thanks all guess we will have to think a little harder lol

No, it's not 'too strange' but I don't like it

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/02/2013 22:00

Deffo makes me think of those posters of a topless man with a baby.

Don't like it much, sorry.

Bessie123 · 16/02/2013 22:00

Isn't that junkaholique woman called Athena? A load of mners were taking the piss out of her name last month.

MoppingMummy · 16/02/2013 21:59

I know an adult Athena - it's lovely.

SalagadooLamagicaboo · 16/02/2013 21:55

When I was younger, my neighbours called their daughter Athenaïs and I love it!!!

But dh ruled it out!

Bessie123 · 16/02/2013 21:51

Are you of Greek origin?

LondonInHighHeeledBoots · 16/02/2013 21:13

Love it. DP put the kibosh on though boring sod wants Hannah Hmm

I'd likely go for Athene over Athena but that is simply because I don't really like -a names much!

Never heard of the poster shop people are mentioning!

MidnightMasquerader · 16/02/2013 10:11

Poster shop for me too. OK, but I don't love it.

VBisme · 16/02/2013 09:49

I love Athene / Athena, but hate Anthea.

Teapig · 16/02/2013 08:22

I like it. I used to work with an Anthena at uni and guess what? We were working at the poster shop Athena! I guess most people won't remember that chain now so no worries about that connection.

farmersdaugther · 15/02/2013 23:26

Love it...

annoying friends used it first GrinGrinGrin

JumpingJackSprat · 15/02/2013 21:01

beautiful and unusual but not strange.

PixelAteMyFace · 15/02/2013 20:24

I also went to school with an Athena and always thought it a lovely name

Merl0t · 15/02/2013 20:17

No not to me, and I'm not Greek. I do remember the poster shops but they went bust years ago I think. And besides, it's also a fairly well-known Greek name. I also know of an Althea and an Alethea, and of course there is Anthea Turner, so Athena doesn't strike me as odd.

MikeOxardAndWellard · 15/02/2013 20:13

I went to school with an Athene, of Greek origin. Not strange, I like it.

Elginge · 15/02/2013 20:10

why the poster shop?
