Struggling with a first name to go with middle name Hugh.

I'd like to use Hugh as a middle name (after my brother) but I'm struggling to think of a suitable first name.

Any suggestions?

Farmersdaughter, my siblings both had the same initial but were different sexes - never really made a problem because one was Miss and the other Mstr/Mr. :)

Horrace Jonathan Hugh sounds lovely, exbf before DH called...that's right Jonathan {boo}

Neither DH or I like Christoper or Chris. But we do like Kit.

Do like Hector Hugh, however dd is H o n o r

not sure if it's a great idea to have too 'H' in the family, mail would be a nightmare Grin Saying that I don't have friends with Alice and Anna..nearly really given it a 2nd thought until today. Maybe not such a problem.

I'd be wary of having Hugh followed by any name beginning with J, just because of the ability to say Huge instead.

I'm 17 weeks and was planning on using Hugh as a first name. You could flip reverse it.

Still struggling with Hugh as a middle name. I think it's due to it being 1 syllable and the fact our surname is 3 syllable.

Thinking about maybe something like:

James Edward Hugh Surname

Nickname wise for Hugh we go with Shug, Hugh Pugh, Hughdle Noodle, or just Huge (cos he is a big boy). Grin

My comment makes a bit more sense (although not much) in the context that I misread the OP and thought you were looking for a middle name to go with the first name Hugh.

It is a family name for us too and although I was concerned about nicknames, no one apart from me uses them though, not even 'H' which was one I worried about.

And despite the fact that he is taller than my 9yr old dd even though he is 7, he hasn't been called Huge.

I don't call him hubaloo, hubster, or hunky monkey, no siree

Annoying we can't use for various reason, Edward, Frederick or Dominic.

Oscar Hugh X does sounds great, as well as Lawrence. Had already suggested this to DH.

Love Benjamin however one of my very very best friends has a Ben. However we only see each other every 2 or 3 years. I don't think this is a problem?

I would love a Peter, however DH doesn't like the nn Pete. Boo boo!

Daniel, is great. Concerned about its popularity and not a massive fan of Dan.

Scone I would utterly love love to use Hugh as a first name, however I already have a DD starting with a 'H' however it's silent.

The only name DH and I can agree on his James or Jamie. Still TTC..but i'm a planner control freak Grin

My ds has Hugh as his middle name and he is called Robert. I think that works well. I really regret not calling him Hugh, a family name, but was concerned about nicknames.
