If I love Evie what else can you suggest?

Right, this is my third and final (until we come up with our short list) thread on names I promise. Sorry if I'm being greedy but considering 3 main areas to get a list of names to choose from.
I've always loved Evie. DS would have been Evie Grace. Only problem is that now someone in our social circle has one. They're not close friends but we do get invited to same birthday parties etc and dc2 will likely attend same school as their daughter.
So... as the thread title asks, if I love Evie, what else can you suggest? And would you just go for it as a possible name anyway?
Thanks so much for your time!

Evadne or Genevieve could both have nn Evie?

AmIGoingMad · 14/02/2013 18:27

Hi Aloha !

Thanks all so much for opinions and suggestions!

I'm definitely not discounting Evie Grace but now am also adding Edie, Ella, Elodie and possibly Amelie into the mix! X

I have an Evie and it wasn't as popular as it is now when she was born.

I would just go ahead and use it if you really love it. There are lots of them now and I have always regretted not naming my DS Jude because someone else I knew had a Jude two months before my DS was born.

GW297 · 14/02/2013 17:33

Evie Grace is beautiful!

AlohaMama · 14/02/2013 15:41

Hi AmI
I wouldn't necessarily be put off by knowing another Evie, unless they're such close friends you know you'll be around them for a long time. People come and go and your social circle will change. but I saw your french names list and I really love those

TheBeanAndTheBee · 14/02/2013 13:03

Elsa?

KittieCat · 14/02/2013 13:00

Effie (normally short for Euphemia)?

Ra88 · 14/02/2013 13:00

Ava grace
Eva grace
Amelia grace

SnowyWellies · 14/02/2013 11:13

Oh, Elodie is gorgeous.

I like Ottilie too.

[wishes I could have a girl]

SnowyWellies · 14/02/2013 11:12

What about Yvette and Evie for short?

aufaniae · 14/02/2013 11:12

Elodie

BabyRoger · 14/02/2013 11:08

My friend has an Evie. Her other DD is Gracie.

Another friend has an Olivia who is called Livie.

Snowflakepie · 14/02/2013 11:05

DD is Evie. We had Sophia as a second choice as she was due around Christmas and I said I couldn't use Evie if she ended up having a Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve birthday. Luckily she didn't but I would have really regretted not using it. There is an Eva at preschool with her and a few Evie's in the school already, but it doesn't worry me. If its a name you've loved for a long time then it will have to be something good to beat it! Also agree that friends do come and go, family maybe would be different but its not enough of a reason for me to ditch it completely!

Other names we had as first or middle, and for DC2 (who is a DS so won't be used) are Molly, Ella, Kitty, Anna, Alice. But nothing came close to Evie for me!

SeventiesBush · 14/02/2013 10:25

Also how about Liv? (Olivia, or Olive)

poppydaisy · 14/02/2013 10:06

Yes, it was a typo. Meant to write Milly.

Gimmeechocolate · 14/02/2013 09:10

I have to ask poppydaisy. Was milky a typo?

Evie was our 'girl' name for ds1. I also shortlisted Eva, ava, Edie, Clara, Anna. Probably more but can't remember!

BeaWheesht · 14/02/2013 08:05

From those suggested above - Edie (Edith?) and Sylvie are lovely x

lljkk · 14/02/2013 07:59

Abbie, Maisie, Gracie, Emily, Milly.
Eva, Ava, Edie, Lindsey, Izzy, Emmie.

And the long versions, like Edith, Margaret, Abigail, Evelyn, Isobel, Emilia.

AmIGoingMad · 14/02/2013 07:56

Edie and Ava are both lovely! As are many others you've suggested. I haven't ruled Evie out as such at the moment. I'm just looking at other ideas as I'm not sure what to do.
Keep the suggestions coming! Thank you!

I would put Dora and Cecily into a similar category, although they don't sound at all similar and I couldn't tell you why I group them together!

NeverQuiteSure · 14/02/2013 07:51

Isla and Ava have a similar sort of ring to them, IMO anyway.

StuntNun · 14/02/2013 07:45

How about Evelyn and you can call her Evie for short?

SeventiesBush · 14/02/2013 07:33

Sylvie
Margot
Daphne
Edie

zcos · 14/02/2013 07:28
