Anna

I adore Anna, it's classic and suits any age. It's the only name I really love for a girl.

However, I mentioned it to DSis and her response was Shock "but everyone will think she's a 50 shades baby!"

So, does anyone hear Anna and think 50 shades now? The character in the book is actually Anastasia I believe, but shortened to Ana mostly.

Fab name - will go far, all round Europe for a start.

Helspopje · 09/02/2013 18:48

Was going to name my daughter this but we have a surname beginning in L and was a little concerned what her name next to her peg would read if there were more than one Anna in the class.

StrawberryMojito · 09/02/2013 18:44

Anna is the name of my not yet conceived second child! I love it, please don't taint it with 50 shades references (or advertise it on here so more people use it - I don't think it's overused in my area). It's a great name.

Harrysmummysarah1 · 09/02/2013 18:39

I only realised when I read what u posted. Don't worry about it

Sashapineapple · 09/02/2013 09:06

I haven't read the 50 shades book. Anna is a beautiful name.

wigglesrock · 09/02/2013 08:11

Well I have read 50 shades ? judge away :) I also have a 2 year old Anna - never made the connection. It's a lovely name.

farmersdaugther · 08/02/2013 21:47

Lovely name

DD1 is an Anna. (2.5). Timeless and classic.

Not met another child with name in my neck of the woods (London).

Never had any issues or comments about 50 shades, thought most people who read it not likely to admit it?? Hmm

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 07/02/2013 21:34

I have an Anna who is 3. It never crossed my mind, that people may make any connection whatsoever with that utter drivel! Grin

FrantasticO · 07/02/2013 21:22

Love the name Anna!

Good luck

FooffyShmoo · 07/02/2013 21:16

I have an Annabel shortened to Anna. Havent had any 50 shades references made. Annabel is also a fairly timeless name.

Yama · 07/02/2013 21:13

I adore Anna. Absolutely adore it.

Haven't read 50 Shades. And wouldn't. And would judge anyone who had.

MadameJosephine · 07/02/2013 21:11

Simply beautiful name!

mummybare · 07/02/2013 21:10

Beautiful, classy, palindromic, what more do you want?

Fifty Shades of ...what?

raisah · 07/02/2013 21:07

It also means patience & perseverance in arabic! My dd is neither but one can only hope!

raisah · 07/02/2013 21:05

I love the name but I'm biased! My dd (2) introduces herself as Anah banana when asked what her name is.

CabbageLooking · 07/02/2013 12:21

Rubbish - have never read 50 Shades and nor have many other people. Gorgeous classic name; elegant and ageless. In my top 3 if we have a girl next time.

Beautiful name. Know several in their 30s and one 11 year old, no infants (in the north west)

TepidCoffee · 07/02/2013 06:01

It's a lovely name, and it's actually quite popular in London/SE at the moment - I know/have met three little Annas my DS's age (2.3).

ripsishere · 07/02/2013 05:34

Beautiful name. I've not read 50 shades of shite, so can't comment on that. The name though is one of my favourites.

lottiegarbanzo · 07/02/2013 05:10

Anna Karenina is the literary reference that comes to mind.

MikeOxardAndWellard · 06/02/2013 22:38

That's a beautiful name. 50 shades didn't cross my mind at all, I agree it's a flash in the pan, don't let it put you off.

lottiegarbanzo · 06/02/2013 22:31

Lovely. I've always known one or two but no more, all my life. They are interesting people, in good ways.

MarianForrester · 06/02/2013 22:28

I really like it too.
