If so, do they have a nickname? Not sure if it can be shortened or not. Can't think of what it could be shortened to!

The only Austin I know is a grown up, he's a really lovely, cool guy.

ravenAK · 27/01/2013 20:17

I teach a teenage Austin.

Prefers skateboarding & heavy metal to writing essays. Lovely lad, though.

ilovecolinfirth · 27/01/2013 20:13

I know a 3 year old Austin. LOVELY boy...affectionately called Oz by mum only.

BNmum · 27/01/2013 20:11

i know an Austin at playgroup and he's an average little toddler, only time will tell if he turns into a twat. As far as i know he's just called Austin.

Cantbelieveitsnotbutter · 27/01/2013 20:00

My ds is an Austin he's adorable and not a twat (obviously!)
We don't shorten it but have thought of oz / ozzie

SneakyBiscuitEater · 27/01/2013 19:48

I know a preschool age Austin. He gets Oz or Ozzie as a nn. He is lovely btw.

ellesabe · 27/01/2013 19:40

The only other nickname I can think of other than Oz/Ozzy would perhaps be Tintin.

amck5700 · 27/01/2013 18:39

I know 2 - One adult, the other about 11, neither are twats or difficult or odd.

Adult sometimes gets called Aust, boy is usually Austin or Oz.

cuillereasoupe · 27/01/2013 18:28

My grandfather was an Austin. He was a raving alcoholic, just to add to the pile of twats Grin

PuffPants · 27/01/2013 17:19

Goodness, I knew one when I was at school. I expect he's in prison now...

MrsJohnDeere · 27/01/2013 17:18

Yes, adult, 40 something. Twat.

dyzzidi · 27/01/2013 17:07

I know two one who is mid thirties and one early twenties and they both get called Oggie. Not sure if its a regional thing as I'm in the NWest

greensnail · 27/01/2013 17:03

I know one in his thirties and one who is 3. Both just known a Austin. Neither are twats .

thegreylady · 27/01/2013 16:53

Yes he is my 70 year old second cousin and it has never been shortened.

lollypopsicle · 27/01/2013 16:52

yes! he is 2.

solidfoundation · 27/01/2013 16:48

Yes, but he's about forty now. We used to call him 'Junior' as he was the youngest in our group.

Ellypoo · 27/01/2013 16:42

I know an Austin, he's only about 10. Sometimes called Aus (oz) or Ausser (ozzer) mainly just Austin though.

DrMcDreamysWife · 27/01/2013 15:54

I have taught a couple of austins, both quite strange odd little boys who didn't socialise well....

As a result not a name I would choose

MoelFammau · 27/01/2013 15:52

I know an Austin. He's mid-20s. He's called Austin. Sometimes Doctor Austin. He's not a doctor. Lovely guy though, just to counteract the 'twat' Austins on this thread!

3HotCrossBuns · 27/01/2013 15:33

My DS2 is also Austen (nearly 6) and he can be a little bugger at times!! He gets called Austy by us, everyone just calls him Austen. I also wish we'd spelled it with an "i" as it is nearly always misspelled. I suspect he will change it later, as an adult, as many emails will probably never arrive in his inbox otherwise!! I blame the post-labour hormones - "no, not like Austin Powers, like Jane Austen" Grin Blush Nonetheless lots of people tell me they like his name.

Rhubarbgarden · 27/01/2013 15:20

I don't know well any but I've met three or four at playgroups. They've always been just Austin as far as I know.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 27/01/2013 15:19

Only a cat

shellyf · 27/01/2013 15:18

His siblings call him oz or ozboz.

shellyf · 27/01/2013 15:17

I know a lovely six year old called Austin.

Ozfrazror · 27/01/2013 15:12

Well my ds1 is called Austen and he is most definitely NOT a twat! We call him Oz 80% of the time. I love the name although possibly wish I'd spelt it with an 'I' instead of 'e' at the end because his name is always spelt wrong everywhere he goes!
