Riley or Freddie??

DC3 due in 9 weeks, have chosen girls name that we both LOVE but can't seem to fall in love with any boys names. Freddie has been a contender for a while but we refer to it as our 'back-up emergency name'! Now liking Riley (i think!), but is it a bit chavtastic??....

I think Freddie is cool. What about frank or Francis? Then he can be Frankie?

McKayz · 19/01/2013 11:39

Freddie is a brilliant name.

thegreylady · 19/01/2013 11:04

Freddie is best of those and I only know one - a gorgeous 3 yr old.

Lily15 · 18/01/2013 18:36

I have a 9 year old Reilly. Way before the Riley invasion of the past few years! Absolutely love the name as much as I did then!
Freddie is ok. I know a couple of newborns along with Teddy & Frank which are both having a surge in popularity.

PriscillaLydiaSellon · 17/01/2013 14:51

Definitely not Riley.

mrs2mic · 17/01/2013 14:49

Riley

CastingNasturtiums · 17/01/2013 14:36

I like Freddie. Riley is meh.

Mrcrumpswife · 17/01/2013 11:44

Definitely Riley, its a boys name only around here.

TheCatInTheHairnet · 17/01/2013 11:41

I only know girl Riley's. I didn't even know it was a boys name!

Eskino · 17/01/2013 11:38

I like Fred. Friends have a daughter called Reilly so its always seemed like a girls name to me. (Absolutely not chavs though.)

Locketjuice · 17/01/2013 11:38

I like them both, but both are really popular I know loads! 4 Riley's and 3 Freddie's

But obviously if it being popular doesnt bother you?

sallievp · 17/01/2013 11:32

100% Freddie.

SminkoPinko · 17/01/2013 08:35

Fred is quite cool, I think. Good teen name. Freddy cute on a baby. Can't see that is ridiculous at all.
Riley has grown on me after a friend called her son this.

emmyloo2 · 17/01/2013 08:30

Definitely Frederick (nn Freddie). Not Riley.

Homebird8 · 17/01/2013 08:14

DS has a Riley in his class. She's lovely!

bruffin · 17/01/2013 08:07

The only Riley I know is a girl

Wishfulmakeupping · 17/01/2013 08:01

Freddie is very cute don't like Riley sorry

BanghamTheDirtyScone · 17/01/2013 07:46

I don't like Riley for the reason you state OP - it's a surname that got fashionable among some people, surnames as first names put me off.

I have a Freddie, it's not his first name but his middle name is Frederic and the older ones don't like his first name as it's unusual, so he's called Freddie.

It is growing on me!

usualsuspect · 17/01/2013 07:45

Riley.

BouncyPenguin · 17/01/2013 07:36

Freddie. Although you have gone off both now! I know someone who called their baby Frank. Love it.

barefootcook · 17/01/2013 07:25

Love Frederick - it's a strong name. Not at all keen on Riley.

mathanxiety · 17/01/2013 02:16

Frederick is nice, with nn Freddie. Riley is not.

MidnightMasquerader · 17/01/2013 01:23

It's not ridiculous at all. It's great! Grin

MrsHelsBels74 · 17/01/2013 01:01

Why is Freddie ridiculous? Obviously am asking as the mother of a Freddie Grin(full name Frederick after my beloved grandad). I know we all have different tastes but ridiculous seems a bit harsh, if the name Fancy McPantsy had been suggested I'd agree with you but not something fairly ordinary like Freddie. Wink

MidnightMasquerader · 17/01/2013 00:45
Grin

Our BIL and SIL's lab is called Riley, and our cat that they adopted when we emigrated is called Freddie.

Totally O/T, but just amused me to see them linked in a Baby Name thread...
