Alan.
Bet he'll be the only Alan in his class.

Frank is my favourite boy's name.... But I don't think that's quite in the Alan league. But I know a 20 year old Alan. He is actually very cool and alternative (I used to babysit him!)...

EvilTwins · 15/01/2013 23:13

Have just remembered, I teach a 14 year old Raymond. He certainly stands out amongst the Jordans, Brandons and Jacks.

ThatVikRinA22 · 15/01/2013 22:27

my DH is an Allan. i always call him Al. i see no problem with alan. Confused

i thought you were going to say it was something really outlandish!

Oh no not Colin. That's one that doesn't need a comeback!
Dd's middle name would have been Brian after my grandad had she been a ds.

I know 9 yr old Frank

Bakingtins · 15/01/2013 21:00

There's an Alan in my son's class. Wasn't what I expected from the thread title, I've heard much more stupid baby names than Alan.

StetsonsAreCool · 15/01/2013 20:58

My brother is a 25 year old Alan. You don't meet many of them.

We had an Uncle Alan too.

Unfortunately Alan doesn't go with my surname, so I can't continue the tradition!

PictureMeInThese · 15/01/2013 20:20

I have a 7 year old Alan across the road from me. On the opposite side of the road there have been twins born named Kevin and Brian Smile

TameGaloot · 15/01/2013 20:03

Love it lady Grin

MerylStrop · 15/01/2013 20:03

I know
5 year old Alastair
2 year old Douglas (bet thats still popular in Scotland)
8 year old Dennis
8 year old Vincent
4 year old Frank

Like it all. Girl equivalents I think are Sheila, Barbara etc maybe

I contemplated Duncan for DS2, more than momentarily.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 15/01/2013 19:58

My cousin is called Derek. Hes 22.

Theres an Alana in DDs class. Maybe not as unusual.

Alastair, wonder if thats on the way back!

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 15/01/2013 19:56

I was amused by this and read it out to DH
Me: "Today I met a three year old called dot dot dot "
DH: "Ellipsis? Now that is a cool name"

I now want a baby hamster so I can call it Ellipsis

LineRunner · 15/01/2013 19:54

I went to school with lots of Marks, Pauls and Johns.

SummerRainIsADistantMemory · 15/01/2013 19:51

Nannetta, I know two Nigels! Both round my age though.... And one of them is related to Alan in my post above!

SummerRainIsADistantMemory · 15/01/2013 19:49

I went to school with a small army of Alans abd Pauls and Daves and Barrys

I'm 28, grew up in cork. All those names still feel really common to me. Dds best friend's older brother is a few years younger than me and is Alan.

TheLateMrPamuk · 15/01/2013 19:49

I have an uncle Alan, he rocks.

LineRunner · 15/01/2013 19:46

Alan Lancaster out of Status Quo (the base player who didn't sell out) is great.

LineRunner · 15/01/2013 19:44

Alan
Roy
Vincent
Dennis
Frank

are all tremendous

oopsadaisymaisy · 15/01/2013 19:43

I used to be really fancy an Alan. There's at least one good looking Alan I know at least.

NanettaStocker · 15/01/2013 19:42

Does anyone think Nigel will ever come back into fashion?

HappyHippyChick · 15/01/2013 19:42

Sowornout I have a Peter (also a David and a Robert)!

stifnstav · 15/01/2013 19:39

CanIHaveAPetGiraffePlease · 15/01/2013 19:38
