I like it. I think there will be others though if that bothers you. Romillys shortened to Romys and I know of a Romy who is actually Rosemary. I would put Rosemary on the bc, but that's just me. romy is very pretty and I do like it. Good choice imo

lljkk · 10/01/2013 13:35

I don't warm to it, the problems with pronunciation put me off.

MadBusLady · 10/01/2013 13:32

Totally new name to me, therefore sounds like a couple of syllables rather than a name.

That's as negative as I can do, it doesn't really inspire emotion either way. I would assume it was short for something.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 10/01/2013 13:28

Rhymes with blow me.
Only negative I can think of.

Sounds ok in every accent/dialect I can think of.

atthewelles · 10/01/2013 13:27

I like it.

jellybeans · 10/01/2013 13:27

Love it.

sparkle12mar08 · 10/01/2013 13:22

Said Rommy or Row-me? I don't particularly like either tbh, but pronounced Row-me it is dire, Rommy would be the better of the two.

Bluemonkeyspots · 10/01/2013 13:20

Seemingly there were only 41 registered in 2011.

Afaik it's a full name in Germany...

Like it a lot- taught one once, it really suited her.

Viviennemary · 10/01/2013 13:07

It's totally dire. What is it short for.

EbbNFlow · 10/01/2013 13:07

I like it a lot.

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 10/01/2013 13:05

Romy is luffly Grin

seeker · 10/01/2013 13:04

Trouble is, I don't think it's particularly unusual. I know 4!

MirandaGoshawk · 10/01/2013 13:04

Yes, I would only connect it with Romy Schneider. It's not a name that would spring to mind as a choice but I don't hate it thought you were going to say a surname. Go for it!

squoosh · 10/01/2013 13:03

Romy is just lovely!

Thumbwitch · 10/01/2013 13:02

Romy and Michelle's High School reunion - get it out on DVD and watch it to know whether or not you think it's a good or bad connection! (2 blonde girls who definitely came under the "different and a bit dim" umbrella but ultimately were the "nice girls who did good". I like that film)

Row-me is the pronunciation I'm familiar with.
I have a friend whose cousin is called Roma, that's nice too.

CambridgeBlue · 10/01/2013 13:00

And I see that QOD has answered my question!

CambridgeBlue · 10/01/2013 13:00

I like it but would be unsure how to pronounce . Is it Ro (rhymes with 'low') -my or Ro (like the start of 'olive') -my? And is the -my bit pronounced as 'my' or 'me'?

QOD · 10/01/2013 13:00

Like it!!

Pronounced row me? Lovely

Merrylegs · 10/01/2013 12:55

It' a pretty name but whenever I hear it I do think of Romy Schneider. She was v beautiful but had a v tragic life - if that kind of stuff bothers you.

PoppadomPreach · 10/01/2013 12:52

Really like it - friend name her baby Romy last year and I commented how much I liked it!

MulledWineAndScully · 10/01/2013 12:50

"is that a bad connection?"

I don't think so, but I barely remember the film - only the title! Sorry btw.

LaCiccolina · 10/01/2013 12:32

Like it

Bluemonkeyspots · 10/01/2013 12:31

I really don't like romilly and definitely don't like rosemary so it would not be short for anything, just Romy.

You will get people calling her Ro?
