Alexa???? Chavy or posh??

Hi, am expecting number 3, dont know the sex. Absolutely love the name Alexa for a girl but my husband says its a bit chavy. I always thought it was quite a traditional name. My two boys are called Henry & George so need something traditional to fit in with that.

whats your thoughts on Alexa - chavy or posh??

Thanks.

Lovely name. And apparently I'm the only munsnetter who likes the name Lexi Grin

MirandaGoshawk · 08/01/2013 22:25

I like Alexa, I know one who is very posh!

GuffSmuggler · 08/01/2013 22:23

I quite like Alexa but I think Lexi is awful and there are quite a few with it shortened to Lexi around here. Seems to be really popular...

zenoushka · 08/01/2013 22:15

I really really like Alexa!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 07/01/2013 07:12

It's nice, i think Alexia is nicer.

jessjessjess · 07/01/2013 07:10

Just makes me think of Alexa rankings for websites. Much prefer Alexandra personally.

HazleNutt · 07/01/2013 06:59

I like it. But Alexandra would be better with Henry and George. Can always shorten to Alexa.

Not chavvy... but I can't help but think of strippers and porn stars.

blueshoes · 06/01/2013 20:27

or Alexia?

Iris1 · 06/01/2013 20:27

I think it's okay. It sounds a bit chavvy as it sounds like Lexi which is really chavvy IMO.
Love your boys names and I think girls names that would be nice are
Elizabeth (Eliza or Betty would be very cute)
Katherine
Rosalie
Cecilia
Florence

I love it. Deffo not chavvy to me. Classy, elegant, pretty. I like it much more than Alexandra or Alexia.

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/01/2013 20:00

It's neither imo

I'm not massively keen on it,but it's a perfectly fine name.

besmirchedandbewildered · 06/01/2013 19:53

I really like it

SpikyLikey · 06/01/2013 19:52

Its beautiful.

There re lots of Lexis about, though.

Graceparkhill · 06/01/2013 19:51

I think it is a lovely, timeless name and would go very well with your others .

usualsuspect · 06/01/2013 19:50

I like it.

The words chavvy and posh should be banned from the baby name threads.

UsedToBeAPixie · 06/01/2013 19:48

I have a friend called Alexa and she is neither chavvy nor posh - she's a very beautiful, generous and intelligent lady.

But don't pay attention to me - if you love it, go with it! ;)

PorkusEnormous · 06/01/2013 18:58

I like Alexa. Go for it! not chavvy at all.

SomersetONeil · 06/01/2013 18:50

I actually really, really like it.

The thing is, there is no universal name that everyone likes, so you really just have to go with the name you like.

And, in fact, the sorts of names lots of people really like become dull through overuse, and then eventually date. Not a great option, either.

So, going with a slightly left-field, some-love-it-some-don't name suddenly starts to have a lot more appeal. :)

I think Alexa is a beautiful name, strong and will stand the test of time.
I wouldn't name her Alexandra and shorten it to Alexa- they are both different names entirely.
Go with what you like, opinions on here are just that- opinions of people you don't know. I think it fits well with your other children's names.

EmpireBiscuit · 06/01/2013 18:04

I used to know an Alexa - she was vairy posh.
