So life is stressful right now. I'm heavily pregnant, will be moving house soon, have two kids at home on summer holidays and they're driving me nuts and now DH decides he doesn't like the names Jarvis or Kit. Plus it'll be 37 degrees on Tuesday.

Can you please name my third son? Pick just one name that you would think is absolutely perfect with his brother's names of Felix and Theodore.

Parameters:

  • Nothing in the top ten (I know Theo and Felix are popular in the UK - not so here in Australia)
  • looking for something quirky but familiar - nothing predictable like William or Sebastian
  • Use Jarvis and Kit as your guide

Just one name. If we end up going with it, I'll send you a present all the way from Australia. I have 8 weeks until baby son #3 is born - please help! :)

have a Theo and agree not another 'o' sound although love orlando and arlo... other options were-

Montague- (Monty)
Rowan
Lucian
like kit but not sure Christopher goes with the other two....

stickygingerbread · 08/01/2013 16:18

Maxmilian and Quentin would fit in well too.

GardenWorm · 08/01/2013 16:11

Oakes ;o)

Oh my goodness, I love your names.

I recently tried to talk my sister into using Christopher/Kit as a nick, but she went with Richard when my nephew was born 2 weeks ago. I love Kit as a nick - to me it evokes a classic masculine man of action & brains.

Can you sneak it past dh by proposing Christopher?

Some other of my favorites:

Magnus
Marcus
Lucas
Lucius
Casimir
Aaron
Finn (got another nevvy named Finn)
Roger
Edgar
Edward

I'd avoid similar sounding names (e.g. those ending in X or O) but think that

Felix, Theo and Arthur
Felix, Theo and Quinn
Felix, Theo and Rory

all sound great together. Good luck.

I do expect that quite a few of those will not appeal to you

bananaramma · 06/01/2013 23:09

Felix, Theodore and Quentin

Felix, Theodore and Reuben

Bluestocking · 06/01/2013 22:54

Christopher/Kit would be lovely!
Re kickass nicknames for Benedict, the only Benedict I know is known as Ben and I'm not sure that any other diminutives are very convincing. Dix, perhaps?

You guys are AMAZING!! Thanks so much!

Am loving Benedict (need all-kinds-of-awesome nickname though, that isn't Ben or Ned as we have close friends with sons called Ben and Ned).

Lots of other names aren't suitable because the last name starts with L and ends in 'ie' so we can't have Archie, Ari, Artie, or any L names for example. I do love Lysander but DH doesn't.

I love Arlo but not sure about having a Theo and an Arlo. Same for Max and Felix - too similar.

I'm going to make a shortlist from these amazing contributions and put them to him. I'll still be gunning for Kit - it really is perfect and honours my father. Christopher will be in the middle if we don't use Christopher/Kit for first.

Thank you all!

I like kit!

Also Max been suggested which is cute
I have an Archie and love the name. He is a Sweet little blonde boy.

We liked really traditional names so I am not much help - considered things like charlie and Henry and james. Archie was quite radical for us!!!

tinkerbelllisa · 06/01/2013 21:23

Shulto
Munroe
Ethan

tootssweet · 06/01/2013 21:19

Apologies if they've been mentioned but for what they're worth:

Quinn
Morten
Murdo (great Scottish name that just didn't work for our ds)
