Is Bathsheba useable?

That's it really. Yes, get the King David story, naked roof-bathing and Thomas Hardy and all that.

So the question is: could a RL person carry off this name?

No. one in a hundred could carry it off successfully, for every other child it would be a complete burden.

SouthernComforts · 03/01/2013 14:58

Please don't

squoosh · 03/01/2013 14:56

Christ no!

I am eternally grateful to my dbro that he talked my mother out of naming me this Smile it was a close call but he prevailed.

Another No vote. I'm all for unusual names but that seems a lot to ask someone to 'carry off' all their life. And, apart from all the cultural connetations, you've opening up the northern / southern split on how you pronounce "bath"!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/01/2013 23:55

No, I don't think so. There are lots of lovely Hebrew names which are perfectly use-able though.

Don't be silly.

OutragedFromLeeds · 02/01/2013 23:51

No.

bananaramma · 02/01/2013 22:07

I like it. Nice biblical name and it has meaning to you.

Quesadillo · 02/01/2013 21:03

Bathsheba. (my Hebrew name, which is only used for things like weddings etc, is Batsheva but I'm interested in the Anglicised version.)

How would you pronounce it - Bath-sheba or Bat-sheva?

AgathaTrunchbull · 02/01/2013 20:35

Cat, yes. Person, no.
