Due with DD2 in a month. DD1 is Tabitha. We both love Ada but I have slight reservations because its so short - not sure why that's making me think twice. Middle name possibly Grace or Poppy...

Love it - it's on my shortlist too. My first DD is Ivy and people could call that an old lady name too, but I love it still and it really stands out. Go for it!

MrsChristmasBungle · 02/01/2013 17:59

I really like Ada. Lovely name.

msrisotto · 02/01/2013 17:52

It seems so. Don't take too much comfort though, I liked Blue before Beyonce gave it as a middle name for her first spawn. Grin

Sabrina is also cool however I grew up watching Sabrina the teenage witch! I think my friends would be very suspicious that i'd lost my marbles!

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 02/01/2013 17:48

risotto you are the first person ever to agree with me on Veda. Dh looked at me like I was nutso when I suggested it for DDs name.

MoonHare · 02/01/2013 17:30

It's OK and the sentiment and meaning to you make it special but I do agree with those who've said it doesn't compare in loveliness to Tabitha. How about Ada as her middle name and something different as a first name?

CPtart · 02/01/2013 17:04

Awful, sorry, and too similar to the so over-used Ava's and Ella's and Eva's. Howabout Esther?

bealos · 02/01/2013 17:01

Ada is lovely. And Ada Lovelace rocks!

Reckon it'll be quite a popular name?

Virgil · 02/01/2013 17:00

Love the name Ada

Arisbottle · 02/01/2013 16:59

I also read it as Asda.

onthemetro · 02/01/2013 16:59

It's beautiful, and I like it with both Grace and Poppy. I did think it said Abba at first though but I am horrendously sleep deprived Grin

ByTheWay1 · 02/01/2013 16:59

lol - I also thought you'd missed out an S - asda.....

I do not think it is as "pretty" as Tabitha....... my cousins were Tabitha and Sabrina which always sounded so cool to me....

msrisotto · 02/01/2013 16:58

I really like the name Ada, reminds me of Ada Lovelace, a great woman! Veda is cool too.

thegreylady · 02/01/2013 16:53

I think its awful-sorry Blush and Tabitha is so lovely it would be a shame to give dd2 a less pretty name.I remember some years ago meeting a woman whose newborn dd was Ada Muriel ...
Ava is prettier I think.

Blanketsandpillows · 02/01/2013 16:41

Love it

12ylnon · 02/01/2013 16:40

Just please not grace as a middle name....

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 02/01/2013 16:39

I also love Veda (like the girl off My Girl)

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 02/01/2013 16:39

Love it! Still two syllables so only seems short on paper.

Dds name is Meg and sometimes sounds too short when I say it Grin

BadBuddha · 02/01/2013 16:38

I like it. I know an Aida, also pronounced 'ay-da', which is nice too.

12ylnon · 02/01/2013 16:35

Ada is beautiful. Great for a little girl and a woman imo. Reminds me of cold mountain.

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/01/2013 12:54

I like it.

My DP has a friend with a little girl called Ada Smile

We would pronounce it Ay-da, that's the traditional pronunciation I think.

I've heard of a couple of baby Ada's in the past few years (London/South East) - both mums were Turkish, it was pronounced "Adda". I really like it!

Catchingmockingbirds · 02/01/2013 12:44

At first I thought it said asda Blush, I don't like it sorry, it's awful.

crazybutterflylady · 02/01/2013 12:41

I just think there's a chance she might not like her name then she can use the middle one. Hopefully wont be necessary though.
My first name means Grace so I like that for that reason, DH likes the name Poppy so I thought it was a good way of including it.
We are planning on going for 3rd eventually though and if that's a girl we'll need a name in reserve!
