I already have a son Elliott and we have a potential boys name but unsure for a girl (due in 2 weeks!). I love both for different reasons so your opinions would be helpful!:

Phoebe Hope (worried a bit common) or.....
Colette Hope (worried a bit similar sounding to Elliott?)

Thanks :-)

pheobe but only because the other is too similar.

Bessie123 · 01/01/2013 22:46

I was expecting horrible names on this thread as per most of them, but your 2 options are both lovely. If it makes a difference to you, Phoebe is quite a Christian name, are you a Christian? That was the only thing that took Phoebe off my list. I used to love a book when I was a child about a little girl called Phoebe who had a hot water bottle. And Colette sounds very stylish.

Ficidy · 01/01/2013 22:41

Really don't like Phoebe, but Colette is lovely. A classic name that would be good at any stage of her life. Phoebe is not an old woman's name.

scarecrow22 · 01/01/2013 22:07

Colette

Both lovely, but love Colette: feminine, elegant, strong. And some pretty potential nicknames.

elsabel · 31/12/2012 22:44

Phoebe is lovely and nice for all ages, not so keen on Colette, sorry

Viviennemary · 30/12/2012 22:16

I'm not overkeen on either. Cecilia is lovely.

nooka · 30/12/2012 22:16

My grandmother was a Nicolette, which I think is a bit softer than Colette and wouldn't sound so much like Elliott.

I'm not personally keen on Phoebe, but really you need to chooe the name you love the best.

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 30/12/2012 22:13

I see you have pretty much settled on Phoebe - good choice :)

Though I like Hope a wee bit more.

Colette an awful lot less!

Elliot is very cute :)

GalaxyDisaStar · 30/12/2012 22:10

I agree with others. I like Colette, but too similar to Elliot I think. Phoebe for me.

Karen2012 · 30/12/2012 21:41

Phoebe definitely having the majority of votes :-) thank you so much for your honesty and suggestions on other names. I also love Hope as a name but think i like Phoebe more but wanted to get it in there somehow! (I'll probably now change my mind in hospital and go for Hope)

having said all this..... baby will probably be a boy (Benjamin) now!

Phoebe Hope is beautiful. Not keen on Colette. How about Cecilia? (Patron saint of music, if that association has meaning for you).

ozymandiusking · 30/12/2012 20:44

Phoebe is the name of my grandaughter--- I love it and her, she is the light of my life.
Elliot is the second name of one of my grandsons, I love that name too (and him)

Beamur · 30/12/2012 20:35

Phoebe and Hope are lovely. Not feeling much love for Colette - sorry.

LemonBreeland · 30/12/2012 20:32

Phoebe, that is what dd was meant to be, but dh twisted my arm to something else.

I also love Elliot btw.

ohfunnyFRANKENface · 30/12/2012 20:19

Pheobe!

ManicMuppetMania · 30/12/2012 20:18

Phoebe

lottiegarbanzo · 30/12/2012 20:16

Phoebe, lovely.

It could just be an association with one person but I think goes further, so I hear Colette as downmarket trying to be fancy, or worse (yes, porny).

Otoh, I think Celeste, Camille and Celia and lovely. also Clara and Claudia.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/12/2012 20:06

Don't like Phoebe at all, sorry, and do like Colette but wouldn't use it with Elliot.

Claudia?

CheckpointCharlie · 30/12/2012 20:02

I love Elliot, would have been my choice if I hadnt had girls!
My girl is Robyn which I love so so much. Cant put the other cause it will out me but it was very uncommon ten years ago (unheard of) and now is top 3. Angry

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 30/12/2012 20:01

Phoebe

I'd want to sing "Colette, the best a man can ge-e-et" in the style of a Gilette advert

Gingerbreadpixie · 30/12/2012 19:58

Phoebe :)
