It's a girl! Let the naming begin - Rose or Nina?

So we found out we are having a girl to complement our DS1. So I can now thankfully put aside boy names and focus in girls names. Middle name will be Catherine.

Currently we have narrowed it down to Rose or Nina? My son is called George. Another option is Laura.

Your thoughts?

Nina, without a doubt.

Lovely, simple, elegant and timeless. Well-known, but she'll be the only one in her class. What more could you ask for? I also think Nina Catherine, sounds much better than Rose Catherine.

Rose is way way too popular. Nina is cool and a bit retro. Go for Nina.

I love Nina but I think it's a "grown up" name. I adore Rosie.

A good friend's daughter is Laura, I think it's a lovely name. Rose is good but too popular these days. FWIW I prefer Catherine Rose to Rose Catherine. Not fussed at all about Nina.

Rose goes with George better...both classic names for your DCs. Rose is ageless and stands the test of time. Nina reminds me of the 1980s / 1990s.

DD is a Rose. People sometimes call her Rosie. I ignore it. At 2.5 she politely corrects them 'No I am actually Rose actually thank you'. So I really would not let that influence your choice.

But I like Nina too.

Nobody ever says the full name aloud do they? DD has no middle name, and neither do DH or I so I wouldn't know personally. But so long as you won't be hollering Nina Catherine in the park I don't think the name order business matters at all.

I really, really don't like Nina. It makes me think of ninjas and ninnies. And Nina and the Neurons. I can't find a single thing to like about it. Blush

Laura is boring as previously mentioned (I know - I have very personal experience of this name).

Rose and Catherine are by far the best names here IMO!

Not a fan of Nina, sorry. Although I am swayed by the fact I know a terribly annoying 'adult' Nina.
I like Rose and Laura is ok too. Think Rose goes nicely with Catherine too.

I love Rose and it isn't often found on its own-Rosie is more common. I dont like Nina but Laura is pretty too.

I love DD's name. She is 4 & we have only met one another Nina in that time. I think it is classic & versatile.i actually wasn't too keen on Catherine but now really like that too - bit wasted in the middle name slot.

Would you consider Eleanor instead of Nina? I quite like Eleanor Catherine and it goes well with George.

I love Rose but not sure about Rose Catherine together.

RillaBlythe - can't believe your DD is Nina Catherine! Are you happy with your name choice? It's so difficult to choose. I really want a name that will carry her throughout her life, if that makes sense..?

I doubt Rose would become Rosie unless, as with my Dcousin, it was a family pet name.

She's actually Rosemary, but even as a feisty, grown up and married 28 yo she is still petite and beautiful and very very nice.

I couldn't imagine her as anything other than Rosie.

Both great names. I prefer rosa to rose.

My dd IS Nina Catherine! Catherine is after a relative.

I appear to be one of the few who has never liked the name Nina. Sounds like the sound of a siren to me! Rose and Laura are both gorgeous.
