My dgs is 3 and had a Christmas card from a child in his class signed 'Effie'.
I wondered what it might be short for.I can only think of Euphemia!!!Surely not...

Effie is lovely! A friends dd is Aoife and she gets (sounds like) Eefie as a nn.

Maybe the parents are Kate Atkinson fans. One of her books has a character called Euphemia, Effie for short.

I know one as a stand alone name. But I think it used to be short for Esther?
