Are Fox and Felix too similar?

Keeping in mind there's another brother in the mix (Theodore), do you think Fox and Felix are too similar to be brothers? Does it really matter?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FellatioNelson · 16/12/2012 15:01

Well Bear has become quite popular, so I don't see why we can't have Fox. It doesn't float my boat, but at least it's not dull. I prefer Bear, but with a Theodore that might not be a great idea! Felix is very nice though.

FellatioNelson · 16/12/2012 15:02

Or Wolfie

Alisvolatpropiis · 16/12/2012 15:03

They're too similar.

persephoneplum · 17/12/2012 02:25

Thanks all - I was looking for an alternative that I like, to my husband's choice of Wolfgang. I think that probably, they are too similar. I'll be sticking to my choice of Jarvis.

Thank you :)

A fox, felix and teddy?

You'll be wanting fido next to stick with the animal theme Hmm

persephoneplum · 17/12/2012 02:36

As I said in a previous post, Theodore is never ever Teddy. Ever. Why do people assume this?

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 17/12/2012 07:06

Persephone, Theodore might not be Teddy to you but it's possible that he or his friends might use that nickname someday, that's why.

Jarvis is nice.

Wallace · 17/12/2012 07:24

I think they do go

Felix, Feodore, and Fox

:)

persephoneplum · 17/12/2012 11:19

@TheDoctrineOfSnatch Theo is nearly six and no-one ever ever calls him Teddy. He would emphatically correct anyone who gets it wrong - he chose Theo for himself out of Theo and Teo.

That said, I haven't heard a single person insist on calling him Teddy. One person said "Welcome Teddy" when he was born and we told him it's not Teddy, it's Theo.

His own father is an Edward and has never in his life been called Teddy either.

I do not understand the insistence that kids don't get to choose what they are called. He wouldn't stand for it!

TBF, persephone, that's the first time you've said either his age or the fact that you and he use Theo as a NN.

I speak as one whose DBro has chosen a NN that my DM hates, which kind of evolved out of what his friends called him as a teenager!

PickledInAPearTree · 17/12/2012 13:33

In quite boring when it comes to names but there is something I quite like about fox.

PorkusEnormous · 17/12/2012 15:08

Bloody hell some people are bitchy and mean on MN

SamSmalaidh · 17/12/2012 15:17

Is Fox and Felix for twins?

PickledInAPearTree · 17/12/2012 15:18

Baby names is one of the most horrible corners of mn for some reason! Odd. Confused

missnevermind · 17/12/2012 15:23

I have a Fox. But couldnt call a child Felix.

Which one do you already have?

Love Theodore, but we are big fans of Theodore Tugboat in this house.

PorkusEnormous · 17/12/2012 15:24

Yes Pickled, some very mean-spirited people that dwell in these parts!

blindworm · 17/12/2012 15:25

I think they're alright, as long as they're not twins. All really nice names.
Also why would people be calling Theodore by a nickname he doesn't go by? If he doesn't like Teddy people won't call him it.

Changeforthrday · 17/12/2012 15:33

Muck as I love foxes, I would name a child fox (x files fan?). I do like Felix though. I think people would assume Fox is a nickname and the child would get asked an awful lot 'what's your real name?'

GalaxyDisaStar · 17/12/2012 15:41

They are too similar for me I'm afraid. Like Jarvis though Smile

JingleBellaTheGymnast · 17/12/2012 15:42

Are they going to be twins? I think that would make them too 'matchy matchy'. What about Rex? Ludovic? (I know there's no 'x' but love it and think it goes with the others. )

I like Jarvis too, but it doesn't feel of the same period as Theodore and Felix, not sure whether that's important to you.

GreatCongas · 17/12/2012 15:48

Felix the fox is one of the pro hunting logos

Just thought I would throw it in there

BoysAndGhouls · 17/12/2012 15:49

My DS middle name is Fox, I love it just dp wasnt as keen as me so it got used as a middle name instead of the first. His other middle name is Robin so going with the animal theme.
People get so judgy over kids names it's ridiculous, go with what you love.

katiecubs · 19/12/2012 09:34

Er well i know a theodore called teddy so it does happen.

personally i think theo and felix are way too similar for siblings - they sound twee together. not keen on fox.

PickledInAPearTree · 19/12/2012 09:36

They are already called that so not helpful! I think the op was asking about fox.

I really can't see any issue whatsoever with theo and felix they are both lovely names.

MadSleighLady · 19/12/2012 09:46

So does that mean you'll have Theodore, Jarvis and Felix? Theodore, Jarvis and Fox? Both sets sound good to me. Where does Wolfgang fit in?
