Actually it's said "Tol-em-ee". There's only one L.

Pancakeflipper · 15/12/2012 16:39

I look at the word and keep thinking its a fancy sausage.

InNeedOfBrandyButter · 15/12/2012 16:33

dishwashervodkaanddietirnbru · 15/12/2012 16:29

dont like it

Viviennemary · 15/12/2012 16:23

It's totally dire. The worst boy's name I've ever heard. But that's only my opinion. I've never heard of it either till I came on Mumsnet. Is it a netmums name.

MadameCastafiore · 15/12/2012 16:13

Always makes me think of pol pot for some reason?

Snowflakepie · 15/12/2012 16:09

I know one who gets called Tolly, quite cute. I do think you need a strong character to carry it well, but that's just my opinion. There was an adult on the Westminster abbey programme called this, with a very English surname, and it did jar a bit. But it's hardly wacky, if you like it use it.

HTH!

are you/dp Greek?

LaurenCaddy · 15/12/2012 15:47

I thought the same, medical condition. How do you pronounce it? I like a lot of Irish and Welsh names that are spelt different, but often look pretty. I don't think that even looks pretty. Sorry.

2sugarsandadog · 15/12/2012 15:46

Jingle, you don't pronounce the 'P'. I think you mightn't like it so much a few years down the line. Especially if it is that popular and half the playground looks round when you call it!

GothAnneGeddes · 15/12/2012 15:19

Definitely not!

ShirleySharpeyes · 15/12/2012 15:18

A wee bit pretentious for me....

jinglebellyalltheway · 15/12/2012 15:16

how do you say it???

Pourquoimoi · 15/12/2012 15:11

Sounds like a medical condition to me I'm afraid - sorry.

Elfontheedge · 15/12/2012 14:59

Um my cat is called Ptolemy if that helps.

CajaDeLaMemoria · 15/12/2012 14:52

That said, it seems to be a very popular name at the moment! It's on everyone's shortlist, and seems to be loved by most.

CajaDeLaMemoria · 15/12/2012 14:52

There's a big thread on this from earlier in the week, with a whole load of opinions.
