What think you of the name Effie (or spelt Effy?)

I'm really sorry but it makes me think "F off" or "effing" as in you know what.

forevergreek · 30/11/2012 18:52

I know a Evelyn who goes by Effie

Greensleeves · 30/11/2012 17:40

I think it is really pretty, but there is one at our school and my ds2 told me some of the older ones call her "eff off Effie" Sad

But I think if children are going to be beastly they will find something. Doesn't mean you shouldn't use whatever name you like.

spiderlight · 30/11/2012 17:38

I'd wonder what it was short for. It's pretty though - makes me think of a fey, pixie-like child.

Light100 · 30/11/2012 17:37

Really like it, is it short for anything?

Snowflakepie · 30/11/2012 17:31

Sounds like iffy to me, I wouldn't. But the ie spelling is better of the two.

lancaster · 30/11/2012 17:15

my dds name with an ie, still often wonder if I should have gone with y though!

WonkyWilly · 30/11/2012 17:13

I like it but only if you spell it Effie!
