Nice list - the only one I don't really like is Russell because I don't like Russell Grant!

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 29/11/2012 20:10

No I'm not familiar with Otis the aardvark either - but I've spent far too much time in OTIS lifts for to ever consider it as a childs name Grin

He who has no list gets no say - it's the law.

YouCanBe · 29/11/2012 20:05

DH hasn't given me his list yet chipping - just disliked everything I have come up with. Grr.
I have no idea who Otis the aardvark is! This is another reason why asking on here is useful!

No to Otis the aardvark Russell and Glynn

I like:
Eli
Benjamin
Thomas
Samuel
Rory
Leo
Smile

BrieMonster · 29/11/2012 12:53

Oh but no to Rudy and Russell too! Can I vote for Sonny and Miles again??

BrieMonster · 29/11/2012 12:50

Love Sonny, but we changed our minds at the last minute (10 days old) to Solomon. He gets called Sol but I love Saul as well. Love Reuben, my brother's name, love Miles but DP thinks it's posh. Don't love Gregor or Glynn, but we have similar taste otherwise!

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 29/11/2012 11:37
Grin

What names has DH put forth?? I'll probably like them

TessOfTheBaublevilles · 29/11/2012 10:29

Love these:

Eli
Reuben
Thomas
Benjamin
Saul
Louis
Samuel
Elias
Leo
James
Amos
Miles

Of the remaining names, the only two I don't like are Russell and Glynn, I find them too dated.

YouCanBe · 29/11/2012 07:39

chippingin Ok, admit it, you ARE my DH.

Oh, maybe not, you did say OK to one!

amazingmumof6 · 29/11/2012 01:31

Elizaday sorry, but Eli is not a pet name! Smile
it means "high" or height" and is of Hebrew origin. In the Old testament Eli was a high priest and a judge, teacher to Samuel.

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 29/11/2012 01:29

I haven't read the other replies as I don't like to be swayed Grin

[Apologies to anyone with children with the names I've said NO to!]

Eli - No
Otis - It's a lift, at best a dog.
Rudy - No
Reuben - No, but largely personal reason why not
Thomas - Yes, but also personal - family name, if not then probably also a No
Benjamin - Used to like it, going off it - rapidly
Saul - No
Louis - No
Samuel - No
Brendan - Absolutely not
Otto - Just no
Rory - No - it is now the name of an animated car
Gregor - No
Elias - Definitely not
Solomon - Absolutely not
Leo - Sad reminder
Russell - Grant??
Glynn - No
James - OK
Amos - No
Robin - No
Sonny NO
Miles - No
Ross - No

Oops - it's probably just as well you and I aren't trying to agree on a name Grin

amazingmumof6 · 29/11/2012 01:25

go for Reuben! it means "behold, a son" - just beautiful!

TheWholeEnchilada · 29/11/2012 01:10

Elias is a really lovely name.

yourclavicle · 28/11/2012 22:04

will pm you You Grin

exoticfruits · 28/11/2012 22:02

Samuel, Thomas, James, Benjamin

YouCanBe · 28/11/2012 21:59

It is a mixed bag, maybe because DH pretty much doesn't like anything, so I am trying to cast my net wide! But also I don't really know what I am looking for I guess.
This is helpful though, it clarifies your own thoughts I think. To see what others think. :)

sleepychunky · 28/11/2012 21:58

My two boys are Samuel and Benjamin, so I obviously like them! Of the others, Thomas is a middle name for one of mine, so another tick. If we had another DS I would seriously be considering Reuben and Amos (although DH would have strong words to say!) I would not have Russell, Brendan, Glynn, Sonny or Miles - not that I really dislike the names but mainly because they are very specific to individuals I know.
Not sure if that's helpful at all...

YouCanBe · 28/11/2012 21:52

Hmm. I can't see a definite pattern emerging yet. Except most everyone seems to like Reuben!

I wonder which two yourclavicle!

OP posts:
TenthMuse · 28/11/2012 21:36

You've got a real mixed bag here! Would take out:

Eli
Rudy
Saul
Brendan
Gregor
Solomon
Russell
Glynn
Sonny
Miles
Ross

My favourites are Otto, Rory, Robin and Reuben.

yourclavicle · 28/11/2012 21:28

it is really freaking me out that you have my 2 boys names on there, right beside each other and in correct order of birth!

Absolutely love Robin and Elias.

MunchkinsMumof2 · 28/11/2012 19:22

Otis
Saul
Otto
Sonny are my faves

giraffe213 · 28/11/2012 15:51

My favourites:
Reuben
Thomas
Benjamin
Samuel
Louis
Gregor
James
Amos

Otis reminds me of the aardvark from CBBC.
Rudy reminds me of that weird animal in Ice Age 3.
I like all the others well enough, apart from maybe Leo, but I couldn't really say why. And Sonny, is it short for anything? It doesn't somehow seem like a 'real' name.

nahla321 · 28/11/2012 15:38

Reuben, Rudy or Otto x
