Have just dug a list of possible names for my future DC I made when I was 15 or 16. It contains such gems as:

Girls:

Misty
Rio
Destiny
Lutricia
Kiri
Loralei
Tea (with a dash over the 'e' i.e. pronounced Taya)
Pinkie

Boys:

Nolan
Drey
Bu
Jenner
Duane
Clifford
Fox
Wilder

Feel free to point and laugh, and to share the mental names you once thought you might call your DC.

Ah yes i remember it well if i had twins it was eric and erica very exotic i thought.
Logan is my sons name now and a few of the names on here i would still use if i would have a girl, but not likely now.

Serendipity, Star (lost boys fan) or Scarlett. Ttc soon - let's see whether my very traditional DH goes for them....

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 05/12/2012 18:18

well jocasta seems nice but I suspect oedipus isn't so popular now Grin could be a name for the naughty middle class boys thread.

noseynoonoo · 05/12/2012 14:35

Jocasta (as in mother of Oedipus)
I enjoyed Classical Studies...

Cecily or Ursula, or almost anything from the Chalet School, for a girl; Henley for a boy.

I still like Cecily, but DH doesn't so it's not one of DD's names. She has three; the third is after my beloved grandmother and I always said I'd use it (but it's currently very popular, hence being demoted to third!), but oddly, though I love the first two, they weren't ones that had ever occurred to me until she was actually on the way.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 05/12/2012 12:19

I doubt many people would 'regret' their dcs name, as then it's not just a theoretical name, it's your child.

I had dd at 17 and had had her name since I was about 12. I don't regret it.

MrsHBaby3 · 05/12/2012 12:04

I thought Benjamin Blue had a nice ring to it, LOL
For girls I liked either Skye or Phoebe. Not sure where any of those ideas came from.
I was also adamant I wanted 6kids. Currently on baby 3 and probably the last (might push to 4 Max!)

I also liked Summer, Red, Autumn and then Phoenix if a boy. Didn't realise I was a hippy until now! Might have been reaction to going to very posh girls school so all the pretty names had associations??
Ah well, my kids have none of those names or even similar, LOL

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 05/12/2012 12:03

Pagan was a name from 'Lace' wasn't it Golden ?

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 05/12/2012 12:01

Gabrielle & Giselle, I didn't consider I might have boys

Sazza28 · 05/12/2012 11:43

I loved the name Oliver, which was quite unusual then, my eldest son is called Oliver but it seems a very popular name now. Choices for girls were Elouise - like the Damned song and Emily. Never had girls but would not choose Elouise now

onthemetro · 05/12/2012 11:07

I was obsessed with the name Lia when I was younger. I actually met someone with that name quite recently and I had the weirdest feeling until later on that night I finally clicked and thought 'that is such a cool name' like a 10 year old again Grin
I also loved Archie but DP said years ago that it was only fit for a dog name so ill have to keep that in mind when we get pets Wink

JustinCaseyHowles · 05/12/2012 11:01

Chuck, Chip and Cookie -joke! Very 50s American! Think I quite liked Haricot for a boy too!

mammyemcbe · 05/12/2012 10:59

Mine were Blaise and Thea, from a teen vampire novelSmile and for a boy Bailey (party of five). 6 dcs later none of these names were used but I still kinda like themShock

SmethwickBelle · 05/12/2012 10:43

How spooky is that!! Snap!

SmethwickBelle · 05/12/2012 10:42

Melody
Harmony
Jade
Amber

If memory serves that would be all for one child. I had a boys name that was about six names long but other than Joshua Jake I can't remember it all.

tittytittyhanghang · 05/12/2012 10:24

i was going to have twin girls called melody and harmony. Have failed on both accounts, no twins and no girls neither!

maxcliffordslovechild · 05/12/2012 09:58

Jancis for a girl, i wasn't having any boys I was firm on that!
DD has another much more traditional name now phew Grin

reastie · 05/12/2012 09:55

Yes, but I was younger than 14. They were Lola and Kylie!

MarchelineWhatNot · 05/12/2012 09:35

Mine would have been: Victoria, Eloise & Simon.

scarlettsmummy2 · 04/12/2012 22:59

Brit. I wasn't having a boy.

jidelgin · 04/12/2012 22:58

Priceless all! Particularly love Rio, OP. I desperately wanted a daughter called Roxy - then found out it was the name of Roger Taylor's dog so it didn't make the cut!

Girls
Genevieve
Marilyn

Boys
Fabian
Darius
Hectus

lovemybabyboy · 04/12/2012 11:40

I wanted Jason for a boy and Jasmine for a girl. I don't think mine were bad actually!

GoldenHandshake · 03/12/2012 12:21

Haha this thread is brilliant!

My mum was pregnant when I was 15, and the names I suggested to her were:

Girls - Pagan (!), Amber, Heaven (Mum should NOT have let me read Virginia Andrews!)

Boys - Logan (V. Andrews again), Trent, Drake

ballroompink · 03/12/2012 10:08

I wanted twin boys called Taliesin and Tamburlaine. Yikes.

Pochemuchka · 02/12/2012 17:48

Star (for boy or girl)

Inspired by the Lost Boys Blush
