What do you think of Bean as a boy's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sallster · 22/11/2012 16:17

It's my friend Nina's nickname. I think it came from us calling her Nina Ribena but I've known her for so long it's origins are lost in the mists of time!

MrsHoarder · 22/11/2012 16:13

Bean sounds like you got too attached to the pregnancy name to give it up. Almost as bad as naming the child baby bump.

RobinSparkles · 22/11/2012 16:12

I have trouble with Sean Bean as well, Grimma. I always want to call him Seen Been too!

Bean is fine...
As a nick name. I could never use it as an actual name though!

LimeLeafLizard · 22/11/2012 16:08

My DSiS's BIL and wife gave their DS the middle name Bean (their nickname for the baby whilst she was pregnant). The family took the piss, a lot.

Sorrel, this happened in my family too - are you my sister?! Grin

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/11/2012 13:07

Really?! No. Just no.

As a cute random nickname it's fine. As an actual name? No!

It would be like calling your son Carrot!

This is where I think you need to make the distinction between z name that is not your choice or to your liking bug is x perfectly useable name. For example I dislike z lot if names that begin with thd letter 'K' can 't explain shy just not my taste.

However, Bean as a name to go on z birth certificate is utterly ridiculous.

GrimmaTheNome · 22/11/2012 10:47

Perfect for a ginger kitten, gobbin.

TheAccidentalExhibitionist · 22/11/2012 09:52

Just dreadful, cutsie and irritating.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 22/11/2012 08:52

Cute name. For a small dog.

My DSiS's BIL and wife gave their DS the middle name Bean (their nickname for the baby whilst she was pregnant). The family took the piss, a lot.

ClareMarriott · 22/11/2012 08:18

Carolinchina

If you named your child Bean, would he be able to carry it all through his life ? Possibly not .

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 21/11/2012 22:16

Absolutely. Especially if your last name is Salad.

gobbin · 21/11/2012 22:13

Oh. I've just called one of my kittens Bean. He's ginger and looked like a baked bean. Are you likely tomhave a redhead? Could be awkward lol!

Callipygian · 21/11/2012 21:35

GrimmaTheNome · 21/11/2012 21:01

Perhaps its pronounced to rhyme with Sean? (anyone else have trouble with Sean Bean...I either read it as Shaun Baun or Seen Been)

MoelFammau · 21/11/2012 20:58

My DD goes by the name Bean, or Lil Bean to be accurate. Her real name is Robin.

izzyishavingababyAGAIN · 21/11/2012 20:46

Is this serious - it's not a name

LittleDonkin · 21/11/2012 20:43

Its my sisters middle child's nickname. It stuck from when she was pregnant.

JimmysMum1988 · 21/11/2012 20:42

TeaBrick · 21/11/2012 20:42

Is it on the name finder because you've just put it on, op?
