I know someone whose daughter and son are called Paris and Troy. Really! Aside from being utter rubbish, I mean, if we are going with mythology Paris is a boy not a girl, and Troy is a place not a person! Its Paris and Hector surely? Or Troy and Mesopotamia?

So can you top that? Go on, I could do with a laugh.

I know a Melanie Melville. And I used to go out with a Heathcliff, Ellen. He had a sister called... Sharon...

I went to school with a girl called Tina Coffey. I'd known her for five whole years when I heard a teacher shout it and I suddenly realised how ridiculous it was. I went round going "Tina Coffey! Tina Coffey! Geddit??" and everyone was Hmm

I worked with Richard whanker - really I did AND he shortened his name.

A friend taught a little boy called Peter and brother Sherman - surname if Tank

InNeedOfBrandy · 20/11/2012 22:35

My maths teacher was called Mrs Cocker. If I ever end up a teacher hell no I would have to change my name if that was my surname.

PickledFanjoCat · 20/11/2012 22:34

My dp just told me he had a teacher called. Richard splash but he was lying..

Ginandtonicandamassageplease · 20/11/2012 22:23

I don't know if this true but I'd love it if it was. A friend told me he used to go to school with a boy whose father was a plumber. Their surname was Pipe. And the boy's first name? Dwayne!!

PickledFanjoCat · 20/11/2012 22:14

I met a penny pen at a funeral recently. That has to be marriage.

marriedinwhite · 20/11/2012 22:12

I once knew a Rose Bush. And my head mistress was called Olive Blott.

PickledFanjoCat · 20/11/2012 22:09

I actually quite like the name randy but you can't can you. Too cruel.

borisjohnsonshair · 20/11/2012 22:09

I was in A and E once and the girl in front of me in the queue (about 15) was called Lollipop-Mae, with a double-barrelled surname too. Poor bugger.

YoullScreamAboutItOneDay · 20/11/2012 22:07

I knew a Kate Bush. I always thought that was unfortunate since her parents named her when Kate Bush was already quite famous.

I worked with a Randy once too. American, but really shouldn't have moved to the UK. Poor guy.

dontcallmehon · 20/11/2012 21:54

Mrsdevere, two of my dcs names were in the list you mentioned. My Oscar did have such lovely curls before his haircut - sigh. < hates that I am so predictable and safe in my name choices>

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 20/11/2012 21:52

OP here For what it is worth, when I started the conversation I had the likes of Sam and Ella in mind, not Scarlett and Jade (I think they are perfectly acceptable names) and certainly not general name bashing. Just themed or ill-thought out sibling combinations.

PickledFanjoCat · 20/11/2012 21:47

Exactly brandy.

InNeedOfBrandy · 20/11/2012 21:46

There is a massive difference between sam and ella then any of the scarlett and jade names.

frantic51 · 20/11/2012 21:43

My Dd knows a pair of brothers called Chris and Drew; not too bad until you learn that their surname is Peacock! Grin

PickledFanjoCat · 20/11/2012 21:43
