What do you think of this name for a girl?

I like it but think I prefer Merryn.

SomersetONeil · 16/11/2012 18:54

I don't love it.

Merryn is much nicer.

Notquite · 16/11/2012 17:10

I really like Meriel and it just isn't Muriel, Ariel or anything else.

GrownupGoth · 16/11/2012 17:05

Love it. Beautiful and it doesn't remind me of Muriel.

AlwaysHoldingOnToStarbug · 16/11/2012 17:04

It reminded me of Muriel's Wedding too. That said, I do think it's quite a nice name.

DizzyPurple · 16/11/2012 16:59

Quite pretty. Although Muriel is probably more well known.( Reminds me of the film Muriel's wedding. She changed her name to Mariel. Love that film! Sorry slightly off topic )

amazingmumof6 · 16/11/2012 16:51

pretty, but it would sound like and/or mistaken for Mary-el or Muriel to me, I sense much trouble ahead always correcting people!(not sure how you plan to pronounce it)

also the "eriel" part is too similar to Ariel (washing powder?) or aerial

would you go for Miriel & Miriella?
(just made these up,don't know if they exist or not!)
bit more clarity and cohesion for sounding a spelling

MothershipG · 16/11/2012 16:43

I like it but it sounds too much like Muriel, I bet you'd get that all the time, so don't use it if that would drive you potty. Smile

How about Meridith? Merry for short? I thought about this for DD but bottled it because I was worried that she'd get teased every time she wasn't 'merry'!
