It's an arabic name and we are not arabic at all but I do like the name. Others thoughts?

I know a Mahala too. She pronounces it Maholla. For years I had no idea how it was spelled.

If Maguiver is pronounced M'Gyver your DH needs to watch The Simpsons.

CrapBag · 19/11/2012 21:20

Yes Lion King but so what. Like the name.

I also know a Mahala, haven't heard that before but its a nice name.

AlphaBeta82 · 19/11/2012 20:02

Don't worry tried to convince DH and he said it made him think of someone chewing a rotten bit of wood!!

Though I'm not sure of his tastes he wants Maguiver for a boy! Wink

Halle Berry/ Lion king. Otherwise it's pretty

brimfullofasha · 19/11/2012 19:31

I like it. In Arabic they pronounce the 'h' as in na-h-la which is quite difficult to do in English but I do think it is very pretty.

zingally · 19/11/2012 12:50

Hmm... No. Too "Lion King".

smother · 19/11/2012 12:36

I like Nahla ... also like Nuala and Nola

AlphaBeta82 · 19/11/2012 11:08

I can assure you mathanxiety that Iden was a very well choosen name for very specific reasons which related to our our family not a cockney mistake! Smile

Iden and Quinlan together looks as if you wanted to call your DS Aiden but spelled Aiden with a cockney accent. Quinlan is too Oirish.

Nahla is nice, as is Ayra. But I would go back to the drawing board for another boy's name.

CharlieCoCo · 18/11/2012 23:59

I hear the name and think of Halle Berry lol but nice name. I have never heard of Iden but sounds lovely and goes fab with Nahla.

UnrequitedSkink · 18/11/2012 23:51

I know a little girl called Quinn, it's not a name I'd have thought of for a girl but she's adorable and it really suits her.

ladymia · 18/11/2012 23:50

like it!

Alisvolatpropiis · 18/11/2012 23:26

It's Nala in the Lion King,to be pedantic about it.

Nahla is lovely. I wouldn't worry so much about the Disney references. Arielle,Aurora and Belle are all fairly popular despite their Disney credentials.

Gwennan · 16/11/2012 16:29

Elodie is very pretty.

Iden & Ayra/Eira sound too alike. Ira is also used as a boys' name.

I find these lists very useful to browse for inspiration.

babyblabber · 16/11/2012 16:28

LOVE it. Would defo use it if we didn't have a Noah!

VisualiseAHorse · 16/11/2012 16:19

Lion King.

BeatTheClock · 16/11/2012 16:17

Lion King

ClementineandLilac · 16/11/2012 16:17

It sounds very pretty to me!

AlphaBeta82 · 16/11/2012 16:14

Nahla is a great Arabic name and so is, my personal favourite: Asiya!

GlaikitFizzog · 16/11/2012 15:27

Iden is eye-den?? Or ih-den?? Ayra to rhyme with Myra? I like Quinn

AlphaBeta82 · 16/11/2012 15:23

P.S. also like Ayra but wonder if it is too close to Iden???

AlphaBeta82 · 16/11/2012 15:17

DS is called Iden

For a boy we like Quinlan nn. Quinn (that is literally the only one we both like!)
Girl - Elodie or as suggested Nahla

Alan backwards! And the lion king. But it's pretty :)

Gwennan · 16/11/2012 15:14

AlphaBeta82 - what is your DS' name or what other names have you picked out for this baby?
