For a boy.
I love the meaning...what does it make you think of when you first hear it?

Point Break.
It's what our dog is called (blonde, shaggy, water-loving, thieving renegade that he is!)

CombustionEngine · 15/11/2012 11:33

LOVE. IT.

Back when I was a Buddhist I was going to use it (and convince dh with the whole Point Break thing!) Hmmm... might still pop it on the list. Nothing on this thread is convincing about it being bad!

  1. Point Break
  2. Steely Dan

Both good references as far as I'm concerned Grin

NarcolepsyQueen · 15/11/2012 10:27

I had a dog with that name - he was lovely!

FriggFRIGG · 15/11/2012 10:25

It is a good name for a cat...

OP posts:
Lakota · 15/11/2012 07:59

It's on my list of names for my future cat. Not being sarcastic, it really is! But I love Point Break [not very spiritual emoticon]

SoupDragon · 15/11/2012 07:58

Bodie and Doyle. On seeing it I thought "Body"

ButtonBoo · 15/11/2012 07:56

Although I am a little cautious... Would a Bodhi be taken seriously in job interviews.

Anyone else read Freakonomics?!! Wink

ButtonBoo · 15/11/2012 07:55

Love it. Was on my list for DD incase she was a DS. Now on my reserve list for round 2!

sleeplessinderbyshire · 14/11/2012 21:58

I think of a spectacularly pretentious family who live round the corner and have a child with that name (and a triplebarrelled surname)

CPtart · 14/11/2012 13:47

Yes, Patrick Swayze in Point Break. Fabulous film!

YDdraigGoch · 14/11/2012 13:41

Yes, would stay clear - sorry Sad

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 14/11/2012 13:12
Grin

Yep, definitely Doyle then. Sorry Frigg.

FriggFRIGG · 14/11/2012 13:11

Boh-dee

(like roadie)

But it's been stricken off the list anyway...see above Grin

OP posts:
EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 14/11/2012 12:47

I wonder how to pronounce it.

YDdraigGoch · 14/11/2012 12:44

Is it pronounced as in "body", or as in "roadie"? Either way he'd be forever having to tell people how to spell and pronounce it.

badtime · 14/11/2012 10:26

Point Break.

FriggFRIGG · 14/11/2012 01:15

Awh shite.
That's out then Grin

I'd never live it down.

OP posts:
exexpat · 14/11/2012 01:13

It seems to be still going Grin

FriggFRIGG · 14/11/2012 01:12

I wonder if it's still open....
my DSIS lives in sydndey...and we are veggies...she'll think I've gone mental and named the baby after a restaurant Grin

FriggFRIGG · 14/11/2012 01:10

Hmmm...

No chaosy I'm not pregloa yet just decided to TTC and over excited, names are probably my favorite bit about having DC... Wink

I wanted to test the water with Bodhi here as I know the moment DP hears it,he'll be set on it he's a hippy

exexpat I knew i knew it from somewhere else! That was a bloody nice restaurant...

OP posts:
exexpat · 14/11/2012 00:41

I'd think tree, Buddha etc, and also the name of a rather nice vegetarian restaurant I used to go to in Sydney. But to be honest it's not a name I'd want to lumber a child with - what if he isn't remotely serene and Buddha-like? And people will constantly mishear it as Brodie or want to spell it Bodie etc.

Viviennemary · 14/11/2012 00:36

I'd think pardon what was that again. I'd think I had misheard.

tipp2chicago · 14/11/2012 00:33

Wasn't there a Bodhi in Home & Away?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 14/11/2012 00:31

Still loike it.

Are you having a child?
