It sounds like a nickname, rather than a proper one. Is it a girl or a boy?

I know an Eppie, think it's very pretty.

The only downside is a really horrible phrase I have heard now and then to "throw an eppie" short for epileptic fit but meaning reacting in anger iyswim.

There was an Eppie in George Eliot's book Silas Marner.
